OAKLAND, Calif. - A major sideshow erupted on the eastern span of the Bay Bridge overnight.
It's becoming a common occurrence in the Bay Area.
The sideshow in the middle of the night came to a close with a fireworks show. Participants shot them 30 feet into the sky with cars taking over the bridge around 2 a.m. Sunday, causing traffic to come to a halt for about an hour.
Video shows multiple cars pulling donuts, getting dangerously close to spectators.
Passengers hung out of car windows and sat in truck beds, as drivers spun in circles.
"You could hear all the tires screeching and revving…It was wild, it was my first time ever, and it was kind of insane - scary and insane."
A driver, who didn't want to be identified, was caught in the traffic jam that he originally thought was the result of a car accident.
"I saw people getting out of their cars and running towards it. The first thing I thought was I gotta check to see that my doors are locked," he said. "I don't know what could happen, my car is in the middle of all the other cars, so I can't drive out, I'm stuck."
Bystanders appeared unfazed, as they recorded the chaos unfolding on their phones.
CHP was on scene, though there were no immediate reports of arrests or injuries.
The Bay Bridge has become a hot spot for sideshows. In April, another illegal sideshow left one bystander injured. The CHP detained four people in that case.
"We're clearly understaffed, both CHP and local law enforcement, and that needs to change because again people should not be able to get away with this," State Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) told KTVU Sunday.

I saw the huge swirl of tire marks on the Bay Bridge around noon today. I’d seen a similar mess on I-880 headed to Berkeley in the morning. Then another giant swirl of multiple tire marks headed south on I-280 in the afternoon.
I yearn for the day when these creeps have their “sideshow” on a PRIDE street “mural.” They’d be found out in a day and sentenced to 15 years within a week.
I live in the Bay area (not for long tho) and within an hr from Oakland. As I’ve said all along, if you participate in a sideshow and your car’s impounded, 6 months then you pay a $10K fine if you want it back.
Guarantee you this shit will end. Instead, they get a slap on the wrist.
That is the FIRST time I’ve ever heard State Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) say something sensible. Of course, he’s probably more responsible for defunding the police than anyone.
You would think some civic minded city alderman would. See the grift to be made in city sponsored side show parks, large asphalt areas where these kids can safely cut donuts lay rubber and stay out of trouble ...
I’m more than annoyed to see this. It’s more of the “broken window syndrome” overtaking our cities. You can’t be assured of being able to use a street, road, or highway that some thugs might decide to take over and use for a stage of some sort.
The current narrative is that “it’s a non-violent crime” but that’s nonsense; it diverts police resources and hinders their prevention of other and more serious crimes.
I have lately seen it in a “nice” neighborhood. Two major intersections (Telegraph Avenue and 51st Street, College Avenue and Claremont Avenue) are now defaced with multiple circular deep tire burns from people who have been doing “doughnuts.”
2 am on Sunday hasn’t happened yet in Oakland. Something like this happened last week, but that isn’t exactly breaking news.
Wherever Democrats rule, it becomes unlivable for decent, civilized people.
The video froze up on me but based on experience my guess is they were home-grown.

Oakland and San Francisco are close to being “no go” areas.

Are these events sponsored by tire shops or do the participants merely steal other people’s tires?
When the cops and politicians refuse to do their jobs and protect the citizen it is up.to.the citizens to do it for themselves.. the Democrats and cops are not going to like to vigilante justice given. They have imported the favelas to our cities and soon we will have favela justice on the streets.
Use midnight basketball courts for these s shows.
If colored people are allowed to say the "N-word," then these creeps are probably allowed to deface a "street mural."

On the Bay Bridge, just get some forklifts and toss the offending vehicles over the side.
