Yes, I always keep a bag of briquettes on hand, but I really like using oak, hickory or mesquite. I also use propane. It just depends on what I’m cooking.

Nice and cool here now, like upper 70s.

It might already be on the thread, but just because it’s a useful page, I’ll make sure. Since you mentioned them.

Loading slow, I’m sure they’re getting hammered.

“It is so dry that I gave up on watering my flowers.”

I am not trying to be rude but why would you give up on watering your flowers? Here in the inland PNW — very different climate — it often doesn’t rain for the entire summer yet we still have flowers (usually watered daily).

I’m on well water and with the lack of rain, I didn’t want to add to the stress to the well. I remember several times over the years when a drought set in and suddenly wells were going dry. I’m watering my potted plants but that’s it.

My friends at home are not worried now about Beryl. Most don’t realize how lucky they were. That upper level low sheared the top off, right after it crossed the Yucatán. Had that low not been there, Beryl could easily have made it back to Cat 3, maybe even weak 4.

But, a little luck is OK!

Well, they do have special briquets. Infused with Mesquite wood chips. 🤗

Indeed, the Yucatan Peninsula knocked the stuffing out of Beryl.

Well, that certainly explains it.
