I wavered a bit on getting vaxxxed. But Free Republic always brought me back to reality. No C19 vaxxx and never got any flu vaxxxes.

My D3 level was 125 ng/ml as of 2 months ago. D3 is actually a hormone that boosts your immune system among other good things.

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol):
Is a form of vitamin D, which is a fat-soluble vitamin
Is produced in the skin when exposed to sunlight, or obtained through diet and supplements
Is not itself a hormone, but is a precursor to the active form of vitamin D

Relationship to hormones:
Vitamin D3 is converted in the body to calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3)
Calcitriol is considered a hormone and is the biologically active form of vitamin D

Role in immune function:
While vitamin D3 itself doesn’t directly boost the immune system, its active form (calcitriol) does play important roles in immune function
Calcitriol helps regulate the immune system and has anti-inflammatory effects

It can enhance the function of immune cells like T cells and macrophages
So while vitamin D3 is crucial for immune health, it’s more accurate to say that the hormone derived from vitamin D3 supports immune function, rather than D3 itself being a hormone that boosts immunity.
