KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine’s army has retreated from a neighborhood in the outskirts of Chasiv Yar, a strategically important town in the eastern Donetsk region that has been reduced to rubble under a monthslong Russian assault, a military spokesperson said Thursday. Chasiv Yar is a short distance west of Bakhmut, which was captured by Russia last year after a bitter 10-month battle. For months, Russian forces have focused on capturing Chasiv Yar, a town which occupies an elevated location. Its fall would put nearby cities in jeopardy, compromise critical Ukrainian supply routes and bring Russia closer to its stated aim of seizing the entire Donetsk region. The Ukrainian army retreated from a northeastern neighborhood in the town, Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesperson for the Khortytsia ground forces formation, told The Associated Press in a written message Thursday.

Tell Russia to stop annexing parts of Moldova, Georgia, All of Crimea and 4 Regions of Ukraine. Tell Russia to stop waging war all over the place. Tell Russia that the great replacement policies they are doing in others peoples nations is illegal and immoral and goes against the very core of conservative values. Ukrainians have the right to defend their country against invaders. After the wall I hope they will build a beautiful wall to protect themselves from any further Russian neo-soviet agressions.
May Russia’s hysterical imperialism, land-grabbing and forever wars - fueled by the deep-state warmongering crowd in Moscow end soon, so we can make peace great again.
So, first of all, my understanding is that pretty much every Ukrainian also speaks Russian, including Volodymyr Zelenskyy, so that part is pure nonsense.
But as for Ukrainians who served in the Russian military, that could be a different story.
You might remember -- after the US Civil War ended, there was a period of years during which former Confederate officials (Democrats!) were not permitted to vote or run for office, since they had fought for "another country" against the USA.
Iirc, many had to sign loyalty oaths -- as rumor has it that Pres. Trump may require from our own corrupted (Democrats!) "Deep State".
In due time, all former Confederates were effectively pardoned and all restrictions removed.
I would not be surprised at similar actions with pretty much any restive ethnic Russian living in Russia's "Russkiy Mir" neighborhood.
Since Russia has no more Black Sea Fleet, Russia will not need bases for it in Crimea.
So, NATO bases could be a good idea, perhaps even as a useful bargaining chip -- NATO will forget about putting NATO bases in Crimea if Russians submit their entire leadership for war-crimes trials in The Hague.
That could be a fair deal...
Sign in Vilnius, Lithuania:
Not just Putin, his entire war-criminal leadership, including the general officers who ordered war crimes.
Of course, Russian's themselves could save everyone the costs and troubles of lengthy trials by just offing the SOBs.
Not even close -- I think it's at least $1 trillion and counting.
Russians will be generations paying off the insanity of their current leadership.
By the way, annual payments on reparations of $1 trillion at 3% interest over 50 years work out to roughly $27 billion per year, which could easily be paid by Russians simply eliminating all corruption from their military budget. And if they don't like that fate, they might talk to the Germans about what their other options are.
Russia's nominal GDP is circa $2.1 trillion/year, so annual reparations payments of $27 billion (= ~1%) would not necessarily need reductions in other legitimate government services, including national defense.
Russian Gay Pride Parade:
Here you're just babbling Russian propaganda nonsense.
Nobody cares what Russia does inside Russia's borders -- witness Vlad the Invader's Second Chechan War from 1999 to 2009, which killed over 50,000 and nobody cared.
Europeans would only remotely care if a reformed Russia applied for European Union membership.
Then Russia would have to meet EU human rights standards, which does include fair treatment for LGBTs, but not necessarily same-sex marriage.
I think Ukraine's 2013 borders include plenty of its own natural gas, however, Russia's total reparations to Ukraine, of whatever amount is settled on, can be paid in whatever commodities are agreed to, including gas, oil or any other of Russia's abundant raw materials.
So far as I can tell, that debt was already paid years ago -- how do you think "The Big Guy" Old Joe Biden got all those 81 million votes in 2020?
So, this item is easily disposed of...
Of course, what would be really useful is valid evidence from Russia's FSB files on how many Western politicians and "influencers" Russians have bought and paid for.
Wouldn't that open some eyes?!
That's pretty bold, and I doubt if we'd see such a demand in any context other than a new reformed Russia applying for NATO membership.
Then I'm pretty sure that NATO would want to be certain the lunatics and kleptocrats who run Russia's military today are 100% gone from authority.
imho, yrmv
Trump was always a playboy and a Democrat, so of not much interest to me.
However, I do remember all these years later a story reported about Trump when he was having certain financial... ah... difficulties.
The story has Trump walking with his then-wife in Atlantic City and, seeing a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk, says to his wife, "see that homeless man, dear? He's worth a billion dollars more than I am today."
I like that about him.

Tell Russia this! Tell Russia that! Blah. Blah. Blah.
Zeepers have been told at least a 1000 times by many FReepers that Americans don’t have any interest in your slavic tribal war. Why can’t you zeepers understand that?
You’ve got a giant sized mouth. Why don’t YOU tell Russia?

Why would I be worried, mommy?
Hey mommy...You posted this exact same comment to me today and to another Freeper yesterday:

Is this a new posting strategy you recently learned at the Ukraine Institute of Propaganda Training And Analysis?
“You’ve got a giant sized mouth. Why don’t YOU tell Russia?”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><
Well I think YOU should tell Russia, since you spend your entire time here appeasing its aggression against other nations.
Secondly the reason I support Ukraine’s freedom is because I support Trump’s policies.
Trump is the one who got me into supporting Ukraine from the very start. Trump initiated the whole process of resisting Russia and helping Ukraine. Obama had refused to do so.
So why are you against Trump’s pro-Ukraine actions he did when he was President? If Trump gave his support is because he knows it’s vital for America’s interests.
As short reminder:
Trump’s administration maintained a consistent policy of non-recognition of Russia’s annexation of Crimea, reaffirming support for Ukraine’s territorial claims.
Furthermore, Donald Trump’s administration took several actions that helped Ukraine against Russian aggression.
First, they provided lethal aid, including anti-tank missiles like the Javelin, which bolstered Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Second, the Trump-administration imposed sanctions on Russian individuals and entities, aiming to weaken Russia’s economy and limit its ability to fund military operations.
Third, the Trump-administration increased military training and support for Ukrainian forces, enhancing their readiness and effectiveness.
Fourth, Trump’s administration supported NATO’s “Enhanced Forward Presence” in Eastern Europe, demonstrating a commitment to regional security.
Fifth, the Trump-administration approved sales of advanced defense equipment to Ukraine, improving its military technology.
Sixth, Trump’s administration advocated for increased NATO defense spending, which indirectly benefited Ukraine by strengthening the alliance’s collective defense posture.
Seventh, the Trump-administration promoted energy independence initiatives in Europe, reducing the region’s reliance on Russian energy supplies.
Eighth, Trump’s administration engaged in diplomatic efforts to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in international forums.
Ninth, the Trump-administration provided economic aid and development assistance to Ukraine, helping stabilize its economy amid the conflict.
No worries! Not offended. :)

Gee mommy, are you handing out gold stars?
“Excellent point. This has got to end. Zelinsky is a short little Napoleon. He is mentally ill and whacked in the head. He has drained his country of fighting age men. The ones he hasn’t sent to their deaths have fled abroad.”
I love when critics of Zelensky project. Replace Putin in this quote and you have it right.
Which of the two have like napoleon invaded other countries for the purpose of expanding his nation or more precisely his power.
After watching putins “history lesson”, twisted if not mentally ill came to mind
Well done napoleon er ah putin
So you are saying that since the mongols once controlled cast parts of Russia including moscova, they have a “historical” claim to those territories?
Now that Putin is beholden to and dependent on China for its existence, like Taiwan, China may be looking to the north to “correct” historical territorial claims.
Since Putin has basically drained his forces from these and much of the vast regions that are “now” claimed as the Russian federation. Putin may have problems far greater than Ukraine.
Say xi , like putin, decides to invoke historical claims and decides to liberate ethnic Chinese from Russian oblasts, what can Putin do.
Which would be more difficult, invade Taiwan or take er ah liberate historically Chinese lands to the north?
Just a thought, but hey could be wrong Russia and China have a limitless “friendship”😎
Replace with I don’t like the president of Ukraine, and tell me how your meme would be any different?
See how easily we could have ended WW2, just give Hitler not only what he had already taken, but even a “bit” more.
There ya go “peace”/s
Many have made great hay about Trumps comment on ending the war in “24 hours” and took that to mean give Putin what he wants.
I see it differently
Trump gave weapons not blankets to Ukraine.
Trump told Europe to increase spending on defense
Trump told Europe it was a bad idea to become dependent on Russia for hydrocarbons
Trump told Europe Nordstream 2 was a bad idea
Trump said he trusted putin over his own 3 letter agencies, something proven to be true, but doesn’t mean Putin is a better, just saying facts
When Trump asked Zelenski if he could release transcript of “the conversation “ Z did and it blew up shifty shiffs fanciful version. Didn’t stop impeachment, but impeachment is not conviction and when you have mittens on your side you know you have lost.
I think the 24 hour comment relates more to remove your troops or you will find out biggly what will happen
Trump has spent decades dealing with the trash that is NY politics and corruption. He knows what Putin is.
