Democrats wrestle with whether Harris would be stronger than Biden

Democrats are wrestling over the question of whether Vice President Harris would be a stronger candidate than President Biden to head the Democratic ticket after last week’s race-altering debate.

Harris has made it clear in recent days that she fully supports Biden’s continued bid for a second term and is not angling to replace him.

But Democratic aides and strategists say privately that Biden’s fate could depend on what polls show over the next few weeks, and they warn that if he falls substantially further behind former President Trump, it could prompt widespread calls among Democrats for the president to drop his reelection bid.

Democrats have generally stuck with Biden, but cracks emerged Tuesday, with Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) becoming the first sitting House member to call on the president to step aside.

Harris is the most likely substitute for Biden, though several sources said there would likely be competition.

“We just have to win, and it’s probably easier with someone other than Joe Biden,” one Senate Democratic aide said.

A CNN poll of registered voters conducted by SSRS in the days after the debate showed Trump now beating Biden nationwide by 6 points, 49 percent support to 43 percent. The same poll showed Trump leading Harris by a narrower margin, 47 percent support to 45 percent.

The spin on this is going to EPIC!

Fresh from her sucessful “Border Czar” role. Tackling the next logical step.

Is she going to have Mayorkis as her VP? Or “train wreck” Pete?

Both are hopeless so I don’t see much difference. They’ll have to go big, Ms. Obama or Newsome. Hillary probably not an option either. Maybe “Dr” Jill, with Obama as VP!

She would be better, no doubt. We should prove it by scheduling six debates between her and Trump. All between 15 July and 15 October on FOX.

For people who harp on democracy, they sure don’t care about who the voters voted for.

A significant point lost on the media who will push for a replacement by party insiders at their convention totally bypassing VOTERS.

If I am the Democrat upper echelon at this point (and therefore have no moral sensibilities), I would be looking at the following:

1. Continue to try to incapacitate Trump, find out if he has an upper limit. Go after Barron indirectly to put pressure on Melania. If you have Deep Cover long-term, well placed, fake MAGA, be ready to activate for a hit.

2. See if there are ways to change the public perception of Harris. Script everything. Don’t have her play the Race Card but invite others to do so on her behalf. In any event, you are likely stuck with her because pulling the scab off the fissures within the party is too dangerous for the down-ticket. If you tick off the wrong people, the vote stealing machinery stops working (see Glenn Poshard, Illinois, 1998).

3. If Trump wins, do what you did in 2017, only more. Lawfare, riots, anything to throw sand in DJT’s face.

Everyone keeps focusing on how the Democrats screwed up. This has nothing to do with Democrats and nothing to do with screwing up.

This is all about what happens when a sizable portion of the American electorate wakes up to how corrupt our political system is, and finds an authentic, charismatic, outsider candidate like Trump who actually represents them.

The Uniparty has no answers for that. Their Plan A was to replace Trump with DeSantis, and let DeSantis beat Biden.. Trump supporters refused to let that happen.

Once the Uniparty saw that “DeSantis is a better version of Trump” didn’t work, they could have tried to convince Biden to not run again. Having a primary would have solved the Kamala problem. But who do they run instead?

Nobody from Uniparty Team R or Uniparty Team D can beat Trump.

So while the focus right now is on the Democrats and this whole image of Schumer and Pelosi and other power players trying to convince Biden to step down, behind the scenes, Mitch McConnell and every other establishment Republican is just as depressed about this.

What were witnessing right now is simply the inevitable fallout of their Plan A not working.

Biden did not beat Trump in 2020, but the media did a good enough job selling the idea of “Biden the Rust Belt Moderate” to convince enough people that he won fair and square. Biden was a prop who was only supposed to hold up for so long. And DeSantis was the prop who was supposed to replace Biden. They’re all out of props!

Lawfare, riots, anything to throw sand in DJT’s face.

In late October, stores started boarding up in my neck of Los Angeles. The store owners painted slogans on the plywood boards, such as: "We Support BLM" and "We (heart) George Floyd."

The plywood boards clearly signaled that they feared -- not Trump -- but the Left should Trump win.

I read A Tale of Two Cities last year. The same thing occurred during the French Revolution. Everyone in Paris wore Roundels (see below) and flew red, white, and blue flags and banners, out of fear. Everyone felt pressured to pretend to support la Republique.

The Drunk Republican
@DrunkRepub

The only way to save this country is for libs to chill the F out. Seriously.

Stop being communist. Stop being child sex weirdos. Stop acting like every court decision that doesn’t go your way is the “end of democracy.”

I mean conservatives are over here going “if we can’t afford groceries maybe we shouldn’t be printing money for Ukraine” and these assholes, like clockwork, reply with “Putin stooge!”

It’s like sitting next to a schizophrenic on a cross-country bus ride. We are stuck with each other for the time being, so grow the fuck up people and be normal for 5 seconds, please.

Or go back to being stoner drum circle people. I dunno, anything but this.

Governing is hard enough already. We don’t need to throw a psych unit into the equation to “spice things up.”

If you can’t be normal this little experiment called America is over. And like it or not it’s pretty great.

I promise you won’t care for the alternative.

Notice whether Traitor Joe is capable of doing the hardest job in the world is not the issue for them at all. It is can he win. If this all was reversed Trump would be gone. We would demand it, the party would demand it. Not because he is unelectable but because we do not want a mentally disabled person to be President of our country.

Obama can’t be VP because he’s had 2 terms therefore ineligible to be Prez, a VP must be eligible to be Prez.

The other ineligiblity issues are not part of this conversation.

Biden is impaired by dementia, but Harris is as dumb as a box of hammers. No amount of spin and talking points would make Harris appear able to manage the country. She has no track record of accomplishing anything and spews a bizarre word salad whenever she speaks. She might be more aware than Joe, but there is no cognition

Obama can’t be VP because he’s had 2 terms therefore ineligible to be Prez, a VP must be eligible to be Prez.

Has that been Constitutionally determined?

Or perhaps, Obama can serve as VP. Then if the president must be replaced, the succession would bypass Obama to ... the House Speaker?

Democrats wrestle with whether Harris would be stronger than Biden

Then they should arm wrestle for it. But don't tell Big Mike - she would want in and would win easily. :)

If they were able to get Kamala at the top of the ticket, Trump could end the careers of two people in one election cycle.
