Sikorsky Support Services Inc., a helicopter manufacturer headquartered in Stratford, Conn., agreed to pay the federal government $70 million in a settlement alongside Wisconsin-based Derco Aerospace Inc. because of claims that it knowingly overcharged the Navy for spare parts and other materials needed to repair and maintain the aircraft it already uses. According to a release from the Department of Justice, Sikorsky and Derco, which are both owned by the same parent company, Lockheed Martin, entered into a type of contract that violates federal statute because it gives suppliers an incentive to drive up government costs — which is what the lawsuit argued the two companies were doing.

Derco Derco, Jihad.
Fraud, theft by deception, self-dealing, graft, or conspiracy thereto, in and among military and contractors should be defined as treason....a few executions would take all the fun out of it.
I developed a good reputation with the NRC on a small research project. I underspent my budget in time for the sponsor to reroute the funds to a less-responsible vendor.

Overcharging the American taxpayer for spare parts or anything associated with the military is nothing new...quite a number of years ago we were working on a piece of equipment used by the Air Force.... a small screw broke during maintenance so we had to order another through the supply pipeline..you could buy a dozen for a buck at Home Depot, Lowes, etc... when the replacement screw finally arrived, the paperwork showed that screw cost the taxpayer $29 dollars... nothing has changed from what I can see....

I like the way things like this were handled in the long ago past. Take the crooks, put a cage over their heads and drop in one or two rats.
Who would ever think that a DoD contractor would over charge for something?
Death penalty for defense fraud.
I tried to avoid ANY appearance of improper charges. The penalty is triple the contract amount. Not triple the charges or triple the overcharge but triple the whole contract.
