Yes, it’s gotten bad there. Almost every newscast begins with “BREAKING NEWS” about someone being shot. Drive-by shootings on the interstate are happening too often. Shootings at places you wouldn’t expect. One at Centennial Park this week. Really???? That place is beautiful and I hung out there a lot when I lived in Nashville. It was so peaceful.
I went out alone at night to clubs to listen to live music and wasn’t uncomfortable doing so. It really was a cool city to live in back then. Yes, there was crime but nothing like today.

Iโ€™m sure there are still areas that you could visit safely and still have a good time. I hope so anyway.

Probably. I wouldn't go alone like I used to though. I'd want to be with a group. Even during the daytime.

That’s such a sad demise of a wonderful city.

It’s heart-breaking. I have a lot of fond memories from the years I lived there.

I loved visiting San Francisco when my son was stationed in the area...even though there were nutty lefties back in the early 2000s...but it’s a literal pigsty now. No one with any sense would want to be anywhere near there. So sad!

San Francisco was pretty in TV and movie scenes and that’s all I’ve ever seen of it. I’ve read enough over time to know it’s turned into a cesspool. Sad.

It was on my wish list for years and years, so when our son moved up there in the AF, I went to see him several times...with and without hubby. There was lots to see, and the whole area was breathtakingly beautiful. I flew over the city with my son in the helicopter he flew [learning how by private lessons]

It was a BLAST!!

Glad you got to fulfill that wish and see the city before it was trashed. Great views but EEK on the helicopter ride. You know I’m a wuss about flying. LOL

I know you are, and sometimes I am, too. But I was never afraid when up with my son. He is the most confident person I know behind a wheel or steering mechanism. LOL! And the city was amazing from up there.

It wouldn’t matter who the pilot was, I wouldn’t go up. I just can’t handle heights. Looking down from a second story window makes me dizzy. LOL
I do enjoy watching planes and love the sound of jets, which is one reason I enjoy the Lake Hood cam.

it is a good cam to watch to see all the jets. Midway in Chicago is another one but it’s small and Southwest Airlines is their major customer. That’s my favorite airline, so I enjoy watching them land and take off.

Thank goodness I’m not afraid of heights as long as I have something to hold on to. :) Just don’t go to the Grand Canyon. it’s NOTHING but heights. LOL!

I don’t care much for the Midway cam. It’s ok but Lake Hood has the seaplanes and I enjoy those a lot, especially the Grummans. There’s a second Goose there now and at least two Widgeons. There might be an Albatross there soon, for at least a little while. THAT will be cool to watch take off and land.

I’d love to see the Grand Canyon, and the huge meteor crater but have to settle for videos and pics. No way in person. That’s way too much height. LOL

Also, Lake Hood is busy with some kind of air traffic all day long. And the weather patterns are a lot more interesting. I love watching especially in winter when the seaplanes become skiplanes. LOL!

It was a little boring this past winter because the planes couldn’t land on the lake most of the time. It wouldn’t stop snowing. The planes can’t land on deep snow and when the groomer would go out to pack the snow, it would just snow again. I think the groomer only got out three times, the third being after the snow finally stopped. But since most pilots didn’t switch over to skis, they kept using the dirt runway with their big snow tires. Can’t see that runway.

They’ve made up for “show time” this summer though. It’s been very busy on the lake.

I was astonishedto get 10/15 right, since I only felt reasonably sure of three. i actually was sure of the July 4th deaths because I knew one was unlikely as being of a later time, and another died in a colder season. I don’t know which ones I got wrong at first because I was half way through before I realized that green or red dots were appearing showing right and wrong answers after clicking to enter the choice and before it jumped to the next question. Is there a way to review one’s answers Interesting quiz!

Jefferson and Adams died on the same day, 50 years exactly from 1776.
