Halyburton was trained as an F-4B Phantom II Radar Intercept Officer, & then joined VF-84 at NAS Oceana, Virginia, in April 1965. He began flying combat missions in Southeast Asia with VF-84 flying off the aircraft carrier USS Independence (CVA-62) in May 1965, & was forced to eject over North Vietnam while flying his 75th combat mission on Oct 17, 1965. He was listed as Killed in Action.
In fact, Halyburton had survived the ejection & was quickly captured on the ground. He would spend the next 2,675 days in captivity in various Vietnamese prison camps including the infamous “Hanoi Hilton”. LCDR Porter Halyburton would finally be released during Operation Homecoming on Feb 12, 1973.
Howdy, Kathy.
Nice to see the wind died down at last. It was pretty robust yesterday and caused some “yeeha” moments for some of the seaplane pilots when they landed.
Still hazy, and there are still “snowflakes” flitting past the Lake Hood cam. I imagine all of you will be glad when the cottonwoods stop spitting that fluff.
Hey there, radu!
Dang! You did good! Hope you’ve had a productive day.
Hi, ML! Good to see ya!
Got in late tonight, helping Sis babysit two babies. LOL!
SO SWEET!
Awww...I’ll bet you had fun!
Howdy, luvie.
I had a couple of lucky guesses to help with the score. LOL
Good quiz this week.
It was a good day. Hot but with clouds and a stiff breeze, so I was able to get out earlier than planned to knock out the yard at the old house. All done and with no rain in sight, Champ and I get a long break. Whew!
One day closer to your 91 this weekend. :-)
Bravo for getting that lawn work done! Champ and you are...well...champs!
It will be nice to have a break. My energy level is on the absolute floor right now.
10/15. I’ve got some work to do!
I don’t mind it when the weather’s decent. It’s nice to be outside. The past two days were rough because it’s so darn dry and it was windy. I ate and wore a lot of dust. LOL
I don’t know what’s happened to the guys. The field areas haven’t been mowed in over three weeks and poor little Champ can’t handle those areas.
I don’t know what to expect tomorrow other than it’ll be toasty. They have us under a heat advisory but when they had us under one the other day, it wasn’t all that bad. We’ll see what happens. I need to haul trash off regardless.
Well, I got 12 out of15 correct. That ain’t too bad.
That’s a really great score! Thanks for taking the quiz with us!
Wow! You did great! Not too bad at all! Thanks for joining us!
I hope your guys are all right and are just busy doing whatever it is they do. They’re gonna hate themselves for waiting so long, though.
I’m really tired of “toasty”. I tried to sit out a bit ago, and it’s still in the 90s and felt awful even with the breeze.
I’m sure they’re fine. Bobby works outside all week and probably stays inside all weekend. Can’t blame him for that! Charlie might be in TX visiting his son. This is around the time of year they usually go down there. I haven’t thought to look in the big garage to see if the motorhome is gone.
I just came in from watering the plants on the carport at the other house and would love to sit outside to listen to the katydids for a while. There are thousands of them out this year. They’re deafening.
But the air is just too nasty to stay outside long. FULL of dust. Yuck!
At least it isn’t as hot as it is at your house. Only 80 here but there’s no breeze tonight.
It’s a shame it was so dusty that you couldn’t enjoy sitting outside. You must have stirred up a bunch of it by mowing. But, your lawn has to look so nice now.
Yesterday at Chisolm Trail Park:
We will do Comanche Lake early today because of a Heat Advisory. We normally do Comanche Lake Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday however, the Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 4th of July event Saturday at the lake so to avoid crowds at that event, we will do our usual Wednesday trip to Wichita Ridge on Saturday.
I actually did a little better on the quiz than some of the people here. I got 9 out of 15 right.
How's everyone doing this morning?
The dust isn’t just from here. It’s nasty everywhere due to it being so dry. There’s also some smoke from fires that are breaking out across this part of the country. It all puts a bitter taste in your mouth. blech
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Looks like it was a little windy yesterday, the way the lake was ruffled up with waves.
I see Gizmo found his smelly spot to roll in. LOL
