Ukraine war will end in surrender
Asia Times ^ | 7/2/24 | STEPHEN BRYEN

The Ukraine war will end in a surrender, not in a negotiated deal. That is my sense of where the war is headed and why the parties cannot negotiate a settlement.

The latest wrinkle in the missing negotiating saga is a declaration in the form of an interview given by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

In the interview, Zelensky said there can’t be direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia but there could be indirect negotiations through a third party. In Zelensky’s proposed scenario, the third party will serve as an intermediary and any deal will only be with the intermediary, not between Russia or Ukraine. Zelensky suggested the UN could act in this role.

However, the Zelensky proposal is a non-starter for many reasons, but the biggest one is that warring states need to directly agree on ending a conflict.

There is no hope of a third party implementing any deal, as the failed Minsk agreements (2014, 2015) proved. Minsk was a hybrid case where the deal was signed by Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Ukraine refused to implement the deal and the OSCE proved toothless and unwilling to try and enforce the Minsk accords. The deal had political backing from Germany and France, although neither was a signatory nor legally obliged in any manner to support the resulting deal.

And yet it is a new story and you couldn’t debunk it or the video.

Ukraine is crushing Russia and in fact Ukrainian forces are mere kilometers from Moscow and are poised to crush the illegitimate Putin regime any day now.

What “3rd Party” would both sides trust to broker this “peace”.

Ukraine is finding out a lesson that the Filipinos in 1899, Polish Jews in Warsaw, Vietnamese, Kurdish forces in Syria, Saddam Hussein, Shah of Iran, every South American dictator the US supported in the 50-60s etc..... The US will “back you up” until it is no longer financially viable .....well... then you’re on your own....

Zelensky better pay the vig to the big guy and his buddies at Black Rock, Vanguard, South Street, Halliburton and any other business that has first rights on bidding for reconstruction and “consolidation” of farm lands....

Russia had superiority in all those areas, yet, they haven't been able to battle their way to what was supposed to be a quick and simple victory against a much smaller rival. ,br>
And, Russia bit off a lot more than they can chew, and their economy is not much better than that of a third-world country. Russia is big, but not economically, and they've lost a lot more than they've gained or hope to gain with a victory if they ever achieve it. Russia will be in a quagmire for many more years.

Joe “Unconditional Surrender” Biden. Unconditional surrender with the loss of a third of Ukraine is what they will get. Joe US Biden had the Ukes pass on Minsk and Istanbul for an unconditionally surrendered rump Ukraine.

What is this? Some kind of deranged smear of the USA. Shame on you.

No, it won’t. It will end with a divided Ukraine, an East (Commie) Ukraine, and a West (free) Ukraine, separated by a DMZ.

They’re just fighting to see which side gets which territory.

>>>>Putin has endorsed Biden.<<<<

The top priority for zeepers is keeping American dollars flowing into the Zelensky/Biden Laundromat, not who Putin endorses for the presidency.

Whatever presidential candidate makes that commitment, is who they’ll vote for.

Biden has proven he’ll send Zelensky whatever he wants. Trump has not.

Therefore, Biden is the zeeper candidate.

Ludicrous. Putin and Russia are unconcerned with legitimacy and elections in that they are allied with mainland China, North Korea, Vietnam, and have various odious local thugs ruling without elections in their federation.

“Unlike you, the people you call zeepers care about more than one issue.”

Berating Freepers for not supporting the laundromat is not “more than one issue”, and praising multiple ways to soak the U.S. taxpayers for more money for said laundromat is not “more than one issue”, accusing everyone who disagrees with the war adventure of being secret Russians is not “more than one issue”.

Nonsense, Ukraine wrote a law putting off elections during being invaded and living under martial law, they did not write a law saying that they they would fight the war without government during that period.

Care to list the countries that think the Ukraine President isn’t legitimate and aren’t dealing with him as the legal President?

“Are you planning something ill for DJT?”

I’m planning on calling you a liar and a wack job.

We have a contingent of bums like you here, who make up the most vile libels against any conservative patriot who happens to disagree with you on Ukraine.

Unlike you, I support Trump. He can end the Ukraine war any way he sees fit, and he will have my support.

I don’t know what you are, but I do know you are a jerk.
