Ukraine war will end in surrender
Asia Times ^ | 7/2/24 | STEPHEN BRYEN

Posted on 07/01/2024 9:37:45 AM PDT by EnderWiggin1970

The Ukraine war will end in a surrender, not in a negotiated deal. That is my sense of where the war is headed and why the parties cannot negotiate a settlement.

The latest wrinkle in the missing negotiating saga is a declaration in the form of an interview given by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

In the interview, Zelensky said there can’t be direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia but there could be indirect negotiations through a third party. In Zelensky’s proposed scenario, the third party will serve as an intermediary and any deal will only be with the intermediary, not between Russia or Ukraine. Zelensky suggested the UN could act in this role.

However, the Zelensky proposal is a non-starter for many reasons, but the biggest one is that warring states need to directly agree on ending a conflict.

There is no hope of a third party implementing any deal, as the failed Minsk agreements (2014, 2015) proved. Minsk was a hybrid case where the deal was signed by Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Ukraine refused to implement the deal and the OSCE proved toothless and unwilling to try and enforce the Minsk accords. The deal had political backing from Germany and France, although neither was a signatory nor legally obliged in any manner to support the resulting deal.

I was impressed with how Ukrainian reservists and retired military were issued arms and promptly went out to find and do battle against invading Russian columns. Similarly, even in the absence of specific orders, regular Ukrainian units mobilized and went into combat.

Ukrainians showed not just courage and skill, but also a high degree of initiative that is contrary to the military training that Ukraine inherited from the Soviet era. Ukraine and Ukrainians can be found fault with on many grounds, but they genuinely value their independence and national identity.

Kind of like minutemen during the American Revolution.

“nope, it’s just the fact that the allies, (UK and USA) told the Jews they’d help if they rioted against the Nazis... “

This is a total vicious lie. The Allies had no contact with Warsaw Ghetto uprising. Obviously, you’re conflating the 1943 ghetto uprising with the 1944 Warsaw uprising. That one the Allies did try to help but their efforts were sabotaged by Stalin.

US elections have never been suspended. Not even during the civil war.

Ah, someone who cannot comprehend the written word.

You might be referring to my post(s) predicting July is the month history will record as when Ukraine lost the war, although the fighting might continue for another 18 months. Or maybe the possibility that the cluster round attack on Crimean beach goers was a point where it became evident from the fallout the world wrote off Ukraine.

My posts said looking back the world would finger July 2024 like many similar references to WWII when historians point to mid-1943, or June 1944.

I never said when the Ukrainians would be completely defeated. A true NAZI would point to the WWII attacks as late as in the early 195Os.

The war is lost.

The EU left warmongers like Macron in the EU pushed a war the people do not support, nor does Trump. The political fallout in the west, Ukrainian losses and Russian pressure have sealed the fate of Ukraine.

You don’t understand what you read.

Looks like Trumps “solution” to Ukraine’s invasion, is surrender to the invaders, to “stop the invasion and save lives”.

If Trump is reelected the left is going to start rioting again and put innocent lives at risk. Why not suggest Trump follow his own advice, surrender to the Democrats and save lives. If you are going to preach surrender, why not lead by example?

Do you not understand the difference between a proxy war in a foreign country that isn’t in our vital interest and demonstrations on American streets?

Oh I see, you write your fantasies based on a prediction of 48 hours, but then people who say let’s hold you to it, they’re just too dumb to understand your drivel.

Yes I understood and the bottom line is you don’t know what you’re talking about.

But Russia is proud of you.

Again you cannot understand what you read. Do you not see commas, and terms like: if, probably, etc.

If, Russia were to drop multiple FAB9000 or 3000s from large aircraft equal or exceeding the Hiroshima blast, multiple times in several different fortified cities, Ukraine soldiers would probably start surrendering. And it would turn out just like the Japanese who took 3 days.

You zeepers are illerate.

MSM still got your back, and Bidens too. After that debate you still cleave to the MSM BS. The media probably lost another 25m DNC worshipers, but you are clinging to the lies.
