Seventy-two hours after the debate in Atlanta last week, President Biden and those closest to him have settled on the same strategy police officers use to shoo bystanders away from a car crash: “Nothing to see here.”
According to the talking points being repeated by the president’s aides and surrogates, the debate was a 90-minute blip in a long campaign. Mr. Biden didn’t have “a great night,” as he told donors Saturday, but fund-raising is going strong and he has already bounced back.
Aides have been pushing a similar message for more than a year, as polls have shown that voters are worried about the president’s age. They have brushed off such concerns, calling them little more than a creation of the media and the MAGA movement supporting the campaign of former President Donald J. Trump.
Jen O’Malley Dillon, the president’s top campaign strategist, said on Saturday that any drop in the polls would be the result of “overblown media narratives.” Senator John Fetterman, Democrat of Pennsylvania, dismissed anxiety about the president’s performance, saying on “Fox News Sunday” that “it’s like one debate.”
And yet, like the bystanders at the car crash, voters do not need to be told what happened during the face-off with Mr. Trump. They saw it with their own eyes.
“Telling people they didn’t see what they saw is not the way to respond to this,” Ben Rhodes, who was a top foreign policy adviser to President Barack Obama, wrote on social media an hour after the debate ended on Thursday.

Is this really the New York Slimes headline?
Pigs flying.
The old Jedi Mind Trick strategy. Works everytime.
Even the NYT has given up the ghost. I wonder how many of their useful idiot readers are enraged about being lied to for 5 years?
“It’s just a flesh wound”
Maybe it was the altitude.
he’s fine....
with a teleprompter....
sort of
lets go brandon!
Nothing to See Here!
That’s the same thing Democrats say when one of their own is caught committing a felony, like possessing an illegal gun.
We need them to think there’s nothing to see.
Debate was only one bad night....
The climax of the Titanic’s first voyage was one bad night.
“Just a blip”. That’s what the radar operators said about the Japanese planes heading to Pearl Harbor.
Joe was just having a bad night.
He’ll do fine. Go Biden!
The White House??
I did not know houses could speak.
They hide behind the White House insitution because they could not say the “Biden Administration” since everyone knows the ogres in the administration are liars.
I agree, Pinocchio is as sharp as a butter knife (wink wink)!
Whatever they call it, people now know that the stories and the online videos are real and they will be receptive to every related video now, this is national exposure that can’t be put away and people have learned that a massive media and presidential deception has been taking place.
A lot of people are now wondering what shadow government has been handling most of the presidential duties and decisions and why has the media and the Dem party been all working together to maintain a defensive wall around the democrat White House and working so hard to squelch all the videos of this stuff.
A lot of doubts and deep suspicions have been created among fence sitters.
Well, all right then. Let's have another one.
Best 2 of 3?
Best 3 of 5?
Best 5 of 7?
That wasn’t a blip. That was raw exposure of who he is. Think of Professor Harold Hill in “The Music Man”. Not merely a bad teacher, but exposed as no teacher at all.
These threats have largely shut up any calls for Biden to go among the elected party establishment.
The "replace Biden" crowd seems to be mostly outside the beltway democrats, the media, pundits, academics, social media influencers etc. The ones that don't live in the DC bubble, have their finger on the pulse of the electorate, and realize what a disaster keeping Biden in there is going to be.
So far, the powers that be in the democrat party, the ones that (might) be able to force Biden to step aside, the Obamas, Clintons, popular democrat governors etc. Seem to be supporting Biden (some pretty tepidly). But unless this group publicly pulls out the long knives against him, I think he is pretty safe, because although the "replace Biden" media crowd can make a lot of noise, they really have little power to do anything.
