48 Hours to Fix a 90-Minute Mess: Inside the Biden Camp’s Post-Debate Frenzy

Selling a ‘comeback kid’

Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey, who hosted a private fund-raising dinner for the president at his home on Saturday evening, was among those receiving a call from a senior White House official.

“It was acknowledging that they had a tough night and also acknowledging that we’ve got to remember that this has been a heck of a run the past four years, and we’ve got to keep it going,” he said in an interview, adding, “They have to hit the gas pedal hard.”

At his event, which raised $3.7 million for the campaign, Mr. Murphy introduced the president as “America’s comeback kid.”

As some Democrats dreamed up ways to draft another candidate on private text chains and in quiet conversations, top Biden officials told nearly everyone that there was no viable alternative and Democrats needed to stay focused on the threat posed by Mr. Trump.

“Donors are very concerned,” Mr. Meeks said. “I had a number of them come and said that they were panicked, to be quite honest with you, that we had to do something, we had to do something now. And others who came up to me and said it would be a mess to do something now.”

One of Mr. Biden’s top advisers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to preserve relationships, said the idea that a younger candidate could replace Mr. Biden and still beat Mr. Trump in November was akin to a “D.C. parlor fantasy.” The adviser compared that hope to the speculation that Nikki Haley or other Republicans could have knocked Mr. Trump off the G.O.P. ticket.

Liberal dems are counting on naive idiot voters that are easily hypnotized by shiny objects. I was in grocery store today and saw man and wife elderly couple (70’s). Man was wearing a biden/harris shirt. I made eye contact and said “my condolences” as we passed. He just smiled. The wife looked clueless. This is north Alabama too. I shoulda asked ‘em where they were from. Cali maybe?

So a dip in the post debate polls will be the media’s fault per the Biden staff.

The article mentions Biden’s rally statements but makes no mention those were read off the prompter.

And because of that the media will reflexively and voluntarily support Biden, even if he does not have them officially on his team.

The problem happens when different news sources get different ideas on how to best beat the Lord of Orangeness. Many have already publicly said that keeping Biden will result in Trump's election. It will be very difficult to walk that back. Right now the Dems look like Louise hitting the gas on the T-bird while Thelma is trying to pull the keys out and throw the car in neutral.

The campaign’s new theme song for rallies. Maybe even performed live at the convention.

Representative Gregory W. Meeks of New York said many donors urged the elected officials in attendance to pressure Mr. Biden to end his run for re-election. Mr. Meeks said he counseled donors to calm down. “I agree that it was a terrible, terrible night,” he said, suggesting that some of that was because Mr. Biden tried to cram too much information into his answers. “Donors are very concerned,” Mr. Meeks said. “I had a number of them come and said that they were panicked, to be quite honest with you, that we had to do something, we had to do something now. And others who came up to me and said it would be a mess to do something now.”

“Biden crapped the debate because he was overprepared like Al Gore” is the new excuse.

Finally got done and Max cut off the part where it shows Dr. Jill help Biden walk down the stairs and talk to the anchors.

Wonder what else they cut.

Biden looked horrible. Trump looked really good.

““It was acknowledging that they had a tough night and also acknowledging that we’ve got to remember that this has been a heck of a run the past four years, and we’ve got to keep it going,”

It’s not “been a heck of a run the past four years”. The Biden administration has been HELL for the past four years.
