We just witnessed the end of Joe Biden’s presidency
New York Post ^ | June 27, 2024 | Post Editorial Board

Millions just witnessed the end of a presidency live on television.

Joe Biden’s performance during the debate was embarrassing.

Whenever CNN put him up on the split screen, he had a thousand-yard stare.

He didn’t look old.

He looked ancient.

He looked empty.

But at least he wasn’t speaking.

Because when it was his time to answer, Biden was incoherent.

He said he “beat Medicaid.”

Asked about abortion, he randomly started talking about migrant crime.

“I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence,” former President Trump noted at one point, “and I don’t think he knows what he said either.”

At one point Biden just froze.

The administration can’t say it’s a “cheap fake” — everyone saw it happen.

...

Biden can’t survive this.

It is political malpractice to let him continue to run for re-election.

It is national malpractice to let him continue.

Biden spent an entire week preparing for this debate, and this is the best he could do.

That should terrify everyone.

IF they replace Biden, this debate probably was a disaster for us. Maybe we’re ok if they can’t avoid running Kamala.
But as soon as they bring in a fresh face, every idiot will say it’s now OK to vote against Trump. That’s my fear.

By the time that Eagjeton happened, McGovern was already well beaten…and had no chance. This was the worst political performance since the kid said “the Emperor has no clothes.”

Trump was flawless in letting his enemy destroy himself…and zipped in a fair number of zingers while he was at it.

I cannot recall a similarly political earthquake as tonight’s debate.

LBJ announced he would not seek re-election on March 31st, five months before the 1968 Demorat convention. He then just finished his term.

FJB has two months before the convention.

The “cheap fake” narrative didn’t age well.

Trump knew Bidens condition back in 2020. It was already clear that he was not and could not be in charge.

The only thing thats new as of today is that now everyone understands that. Maybe some more of them will come to the obvious corollary and start asking about who is actually in charge.

There’s been so many moving parts tonight.

The conspiracy that Obama forces set Biden up to fail. Jill as the Lady MacBeth. The fact that Biden should be 25th Amendment’ed out of off, I mean come on. Dems panic deal tonight with the networks joining in.

I completely forgot about Garland and those tapes he’s withholding because so much is going on tonight. I’m guessing Biden looks as bad or worse there as this debate.

A similar take from The Federalist:
Democrats Admit Biden’s Debate Performance Was A Disaster. That Should Worry Everyone.

“As happy as Donald Trump’s supporters surely are with the display, the event puts the nation in a highly precarious situation — what won’t Democrats do now, this late in the game, to win the election?”
...
“It’s not really like Democrats are in a dramatically different position between now and yesterday. Or for the last two years. Anyone paying loose attention in that time has known that Biden is simply not up to the task. Literally, today, it’s a national security threat that he’s in office. “
...
“To guess what happens next is to stare into an inky, bottomless pit and search for what might rapidly crawl toward the surface.”
...
“Have you ever cornered a rabid animal? That’s the situation that the debate has left us with, except the sick beast has a gun.”

The old rope a dope strategy. Trump covered his face and watched the old dope punch himself out in 14 seconds

I don’t want Biden to drop out. They picked him. They need to keep him.

Those shows were incredible compared to there up-to-then coverage. They were actually talking about Biden resigning as president!

Yeah, things are going to get worse (Re: Dems lashing out/unpredictable actions) and also perhaps enemies else where.

Biden should not be president. He is not up to the task. He’s an old man being taken advantage of (not a good guy, but he is being exploited). And the country deserves better whether the president has a D or an R by their name.

The political aspect is Trump is on track to win, but the Dems won’t give it up easy, then the non-political governing point is Biden should be removed from the presidency tomorrow (but that won’t happen).

All Trump can do is keep making his case, and I hope his secret service are up to the task because right now things are going be more crazy in the next days and weeks.

The conspiracy that Obama forces set Biden up to fail.

I don't think so. Team Obama tried to prop up FJB as long they could, and the facade came crashing down tonight. Now they're rats scrambling on a sinking ship.

Biden has the delegates.

Only he can withdraw.

He isn’t going to do that.

Another idea is he resigns presidency.

For health reasons.

Harris becomes incumbent candidate.

Those are the two possibilities.

But this’ll be forgotten in three days.

Biden was told to just smile and shake his head when Trump spoke.

He did that but he added the blank stare into space.

Be careful what you wish for. Trump has it much easier with Biden in the race.

Who couldn’t see that Joe was getting senile in 2019?

He was starting to show decline when he and Jugears left office in 2017.

Trump hinted at his VP pick to be revealed at the debate but I haven’t heard anything about it.
Does anybody know?

I believe that is exactly what Joe and Jill will do.

I’ve been of that opinion for at least a year.
They will dig in their heels and attack any Dem who tries to pressure them to go.

It is political malpractice to let him continue to run for re-election.

I'm much more worried that he's the president. If the democrats don't think he should be the nominee, they should invoke the 25th Amendment and get him out of office.
