Biden's Debate Train Wreck Has Democrats Panicking

Wow, that was brutal. Just brutal.

From the moment Joe Biden first spoke, it was clear this was going to be a bad night for him. My only conclusion is that all the talk about Biden potentially being drugged for this debate to boost his performance ultimately scared the campaign from doing just that.

This was a huge gamble for the Biden campaign to have Joe debate Trump, and they lost big time. But don't take my word for it.

Politico reports that "Democrats expressed confusion and concern as they watched the first minutes of the event. One former Biden White House and campaign aide called it 'terrible,' adding that they have had to ask themselves over and over 'What did he just say? This is crazy.''"

Another veteran Democratic operative texted, “Biden seems to have needed a few minutes to warm up. I wonder if the lack of an audience was the right decision. And poor guy needs a tea. Maybe a whiskey.”

Jay Surdukowski, an attorney and Democratic activist from New Hampshire who co-chaired Martin O’Malley’s 2016 presidential campaign in the state, said, “Biden is toast — calling it now.”

Biden’s rambling answers provided Trump multiple opportunities to jump in with retorts. At one point, after an answer ostensibly on immigration, Trump said, “I don’t know what he said at the end there. I don’t think he knows what he said.”

The president’s performance was widely panned online and will likely reinforce the impression that he’s lost a step. The 81-year-old president’s age has long been a liability, with poll after poll showing even many Democrats concerned about his age.

The Biden campaign claimed Biden's raspy voice was due to a cold, "

Why does everyone always go to Van Jones for his opinions?

Because he is a smooth talking communist.

The spin for the night:

Biden had a bad night and Trump spewed lies.

Had enough of the “lies” crap. To a Dem, anything that isn’t their reality is a lie.

CNN’s Tapper was so much better than I thought possible... that’s true. And weird.

I don’t think you’re correct about this.

I live in the bluest part of a very blue state. Most of the people I know are dyed-in-the-wool Democrats - mostly so out of sheer habit. They aren’t necessarily ‘anti-Trump’ but ‘anti-Republican’; that’s how they’re conditioned.

On the other hand, they can see very well what their lives are like under Biden, as opposed to how they were under Trump. I’m sure they see how poorly Biden did tonight, too.

If Biden is replaced, most will probably still vote Dem; but I don’t think they’ll resent it much if Biden IS replaced. He’s not doing anything for them. They tend to be Party people, not Candidate people.

Is the predicted red tsunami still a possibility? This is the first time I have empathized with with that arrogant old liar, and I am not ashamed to admit it. Yet, I shall never support that old fool. Bring back Orange Man and hot wife, for Pete’s sake.

Good question - Van Jones has a tendency to say things the lefties don’t want said.

That is my area as well—not my town—but the nearest suburbs.

Our best chance for their votes is to keep Biden on the ticket and let him deteriorate further between now and November.

Some of them might hold their nose and vote for President Trump if Biden was in bad enough shape.

If Biden was replaced they would vote party as you say.

Allow the populace to hunt each of them down and turn them in for immediate deportation. Put a perpetual bounty on them to show that we’re serious.

This may have all been planned to get rid of Biden. I don’t know, it’s possible. I will say though it was a complete 180 degree difference from the Chris Wallace moderated debate back in 2020 where Wallace kept interrupting Trump. Remember that one? He even demanded Trump “denounce white supremacy” and didn’t ask the same of Biden even though Biden was the segregationist.

But what you have just said would not generate impetus to replace him. Those samples aren’t going to change after the debate.

They will still vote for the Dem.

This is my point. It’s very hard to move the needle and if it doesn’t move then they won’t replace him. Remember, an EV loss of the presidency may not cost them many seats in Congress. Split ballots from Independents is a very likely thing. So if their seats are not at risk, their sense of urgency to replace Biden diminishes.

This is the Swamp we’re talking about. They don’t care much about policy.

Biden will almost certainly be replaced on the ticket, but with who? Newsom’s record in California is a disaster. Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer as non starter. Hillary old news. Then there is the problem of what to do about Kamala. The effect of Biden on down ballot races is also a problem as the question of why incumbents didn’t recognize that Biden hasn’t been running things for the last three years.

Biden WAS jacked up! His eyes are blue.

Tonight they were just two black holes.

I was at work last night and only caught a few minutes of it all.

I later overheard some nurses saying how dilated his eyes were. They're the people who would know.
