The move, first reported by Politico, is to “ensure continuity in their children’s education,” according to a spokesperson for the governor, who also noted Newsom’s term ends in 2027. Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom have four children, the eldest of which will be entering high school in the fall.

Politico reported that Newsom’s eldest daughter will be attending The Branson School, a private high school in the tony Marin suburb of Ross, with an annual tuition of just under $60,000.

The move to Marin (same county I live in) is not a big surprise. Gavin himself was raised in the city of Ross.
I could never afford tbat zip code. Im in San Rafael.
They probably still have numerous Newsomes living in that area. Mostly Old Money.

Yep, they want to get out of the $hit hole they created. It’s too dangerous and filthy.

What - public education is not good enough for King Nuisance and his children?

Nearly $60,000 for four years is nearly $240,000.

That’s a crazy amount of money to pay for a high school education.

I attended a public high school in upstate New York. Every teacher I had there was dedicated and competent. I still remember the foul language of the students though.

Bull. “Schools” is a euphemism for “Wealthy Whites Only” neighborhood. Rich Liberals “support MLK live like KKK.”

Our son and DIL used to live in San Anselmo for a few years. Rented a beautiful home but it had no yard. Built on a mountain side.

They bought a place in Mill Valley a year ago. Smaller home but has a small yard, which they are enjoying with their two little boys. Son misses San Anselmo, but they are making their way, little by little.

Our place here is almost 3 times the size of their home, and about 1/3 of the price. I don’t get it, but if that makes them happy, so be it.

Gavin went to Redwood High School (a public school) - the same high school my kids went to. His wife went to Branson. I knew his wife’s parents (acquaintances) because their kids and my kids went to the same school during their early years, and the parents would sometimes host small school events at their estate in Kentfield, and one of my sons was a classmate of one of Gavin’s wife’s younger sister and they’d do activities together. The wife’s parents were very down-to-earth people, very likable.

Mill Valley is also a lovely area. More spread out than San Anselmo and more mountainous. I often wonder how the builders found so many ways to construct on those uneven, rolling hillsides and cliffs, but they did. During rainy winters, skme cars have to use their emergency brakes when parking. To keep the car from sliding down muddy driveways.I have had that experience. One feels as though they are living on an island of some sort. Adds to the charm. I suppose.

I sold my ‘Farmette’ in Dane County and moved ONE COUNTY OVER in 2016 when I retired.

Dane County taxes for 1.2 acres = $3,800.00.

Current taxes on 160 acres = $3,500.00.

It’s insanity! But I like it...now that I don’t have to PAY it :)

You can’t be from the same county as the lieutenant governor.

Well, of course

Public (government) schools in Cali are a hot mess.

Hmmm, who created and/or worsened the major dumpster fire that is public education in California?

The charm I saw in MV was at their local Bob’s Donuts. San Anselmo had plenty of charm. DIL felt it was necessary to be homeowners no matter the cost. The two of them don’t make the same decisions we would, but we love them both dearly, and hope they leave one day. They’re both from flyover country.

You show wisdom by not spending too much time trying to get your son to agree his homeowner choices are not logical or maybe not even sustainable without undue sacrifice.
You would probably be correct. but each married couple has to operate by their own rules and priorities.
Better just to enjoy the grandkids and not try to change or “correct” anything unless directly asked.

Good news...
Now that we have news that the San Andreas is compressed to the eruption point, we may get rid of that worthless POS...

Marin county should optimize his chances for removal from office...
