More reality.
“We tell the Ukrainians: ‘You’ve got to come to the table, and if you don’t come to the table, support from the United States will dry up,’” he said. “And you tell Putin: ‘He’s got to come to the table and if you don’t come to the table, then we’ll give Ukrainians everything they need to kill you in the field.’”
“ Fleitz said Ukraine need not formally cede territory to Russia under their plan.
Still, Ukraine was unlikely to regain effective control of all its territory in the near term, he added.
“Our concern is that this has become a war of attrition that’s going to kill a whole generation of young men,” he said.
A lasting peace in Ukraine would require additional security guarantees for Ukraine, the pair said.
Fleitz added that “arming Ukraine to the teeth” was likely to be a key element of that.”
Fleitz can say anything he wants but Russia will not accept an armed Ukraine with ties to NATO.
Brilliant!
To the Ukes: Open negotiations or we cut off the money/weapons pipeline [which the Ukes cannot absorb]
To the Russkies: Open negotiations or we increase the money/weapons pipeline [which the russkies don’t want to absorb]
Puts both in a corner, forces talks with consequences for intransigence [the only NATO/Ukie strategy to date]. Talks lead to compromise. Compromise leads to agreement.
Bonus: The war ends once talks start. Expect “good faith” concessions as an opener. Neither side will have momentum or moral authority to scuttle ongoing talks to resume fighting.
PDJT is the only adult in the room and a master of negotiations.
PS - My freeper Ukiephile friends, there is NO WAY the russkies can “lose” or Ukeland “win”, nor is this war a stalemate. Wanting something to happen [a russkie withdrawal/war reparations/blah blah blah] is fine, but you need to deal with reality. And reality says the bear isn’t going back to hibernation. Other countries, even ones you’ve never visited and know little about but still hate, do have a say on how they will conduct their affairs.
