- Russia says US is responsible for strike on Crimea.
- Ukraine struck Crimea with U.S.-supplied ATACMS.
- Russia says U.S. personnel input flight coordinates.
- Russia says at least three people killed, 124 injured.
MOSCOW, June 23 (Reuters) - Russia said on Sunday that the United States was responsible for a Ukrainian attack on the Russian-annexed Crimean peninsula with five U.S.-supplied missiles that killed at least five people including three children and injured 124 more. The Russian Defence Ministry said four of the U.S.-delivered Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles, equipped with cluster warheads, were shot down by air defence systems and the ammunition of a fifth had detonated in mid-air. The ministry said U.S. specialists had set the missiles' flight coordinates on the basis of information from U.S. spy satellites, meaning Washington was directly responsible. "Responsibility for the deliberate missile attack on the civilians of Sevastopol is borne above all by Washington, which supplied these weapons to Ukraine, and by the Kyiv regime, from whose territory this strike was carried out," the ministry said.

I wonder what the Global Hawk can do there that we can’t get from satellites?
Putin bears ultimate responsible for ALL the consequences of HIS invasion of Ukraine.
“Right, Russia is bombing Ukraine every day, killing civilians”
The issue at hand, the one your emotions will not let you see is this: Russia and Ukraine are at war and both are killing civilians to one degree or another. Sometimes even their own.
However, the US is not at war with either party, and we do not have a defense treaty with either. We are not a legal belligerent in the war.
So, if we target civilians, or program munitions which hit civilians, we would then be properly labeled terrorists.
The continental alliance was not “wealth destroying”, lol.
@1% of gdp defense expenditures were the norm. Much to Trumps disgust. Until Ukraine.
Signal intelligence
Really... and which of these pre-Soviet Tsars had aggressive global ambitions in Western Europe? Catherine participating in the partition of Poland is all I can recall.. and she had Prussia and Austria along. I seem to remember Alexander I had his boots literally up on Napoleon’s desk in Paris and yet marched his army all the way back to Russia without taking an acre of land. You seem to refer to a mythology about Russia over any actual historical facts.
So, if we target civilian
No civilians were targeted. Russia admitted it intercepted the missile over the beach.
It’s all fun and games till the FAB 9000s show up, and blow open the entire Ukrainian front line...
I’m American and I meant ‘wealth destroying’ for us.
“ Putin has killed hundreds of thousands in his invasion of Ukraine.”

I suggest you read Pipes.
There is a LOT of history here.
Right, which is why Finland joined NATO, realizing that its neutrality agreements with Russia were not worth the paper they were written on.
List of treaties Putin violated by invading Ukraine:
UN Charter 1945
Nuclear NPT 1970
Helsinki Accords 1975
Belovezha Accords 91–92
Budapest Memo 94
Black Sea Fleet Treaty 97
Friendship Treaty 98
Treaty on Azov Sea & Kerch Strait 03 Border treaty 03
Karkiv pact 10
Putin even broke a treaty he personally signed with Ukraine, the 2003 “Treaty Between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the Russian–Ukrainian State Border”. It set Ukraine’s borders as they were in 1991 & was lodged with the UN.
US defense expenditures as of 2021 were at @3.5% of GDP, which is low, not quite a post-WW2 low, of of 3.1% as of 1999-2000, but not far from it.
So countries should not have the draft, in times of war for self-defense? Okay
Devil is in the details... My point was you have to have a substantial reason (like ‘the son of the Revolution’) to maintain a global alliance. Not phantom fears.
The fears, it seems, were not “phantom”.
Only a European would say that so glibly. Do you have any idea how huge the US economy is? 3.5% of GDP is far from chump change... especially when you are allowing your infrastructure to crumble.
Russian tourists are unworried because, unlike Putin, Ukraine doesn’t do wholesale bombing of civilians.
Sure, like Putin invading Georgia and annexing 20%. Then invading Ukraine, and occupying 20%...
If you are referring to Russia’s occupation of any part of Ukraine, that is historically damn near status quo.
