MIAMI (AP) — Former President Donald Trump said in an interview posted on Thursday he wants to give automatic green cards to foreign students who graduate from U.S. colleges, a sharp departure from the anti-immigrant rhetoric he typically uses on the campaign trail.
Trump was asked about plans for companies to be able to import the “best and brightest” in a podcast taped Wednesday with venture capitalists and tech investors called the “All-In.”
“What I want to do and what I will do is you graduate from a college, I think you should get automatically as part of your diploma a green card to be able to stay in this country. And that includes junior colleges too, anybody graduates from a college. You go there for two years or four years,” he said, vowing to address this concern on day one.

That’s so true. I was thinking that his advisors need to clue him in on that. Then I decided that he should know better on his own, and not need advisors on such a basic concept.
If he gonna cave on this, what else will he cave on?
I’ve suspected that at his core, he’s a liberal. It’s hard to change that and it shows sometimes. This news would make me stay home on election day - if it’s true, that is. I’m skeptical of the media.
I could see that happening. The get a twofer: minority AND British trained. To h3ll with the country who sent them.
Trump has often floated policy ideas that he’s walked back. I’m hoping this is one of them. About a year or so ago, he started talking about making “a deal on abortion”. Later, he walked that back and committed (wisely, in my opinion) to leaving the issue to the states. Let’s hope he does something similar in this instance.
I pray you are right. I’m not on Truth Social, but figure there must be a way for members to comment and give advice. I hope he’s being inundated right now.
I’m on Truth Social. Trump hasn’t posted anything about this to his account, so far. As far as sending direct messages to his or anyone else’s Truth account, they have to give you permission to do so, but anyone can respond to comments as long as the poster hasn’t specifically blocked you. Trump usually gets thousands of responses to his postings, so it can be hard for an individual comment to get noticed that way. But if thousands of people responded in the same way, I suppose that would make an impression.
An easier way to rise above the din is to send comments to someone in his orbit, like Dan Scavino or someone like that. Scavino’s posts usually generate responses in the 100’s, not the 1,000’s.

Of course he’s a liberal at heart. That’s a known. His instincts to take guns first ask questions later, to not want to push back on abortion, to sign any Pelosi bill that was put in front of him, to spend trillions, to let guys (including himself) into gals’ dressing rooms, to wave the pride flag, etc. He fights against conservatives like Roy, Massie, and Good.
He is empowered by Con Inc. That’s Fox News, “conservative” radio, Bongino, Beck, Hannity, Levin, Loomer, and everyone else who is afraid to lose their income if they anger Trump. They lie for him, cover up his misdeeds, and take down anyone who goes against him.
Trump makes so-called conservatives accept things they would never tolerate with anyone else. It is heartbreaking to watch.
It will only encourage academia to show their love for the foreign students even more, because their families willinness to pay anything helps prop up academia’s sky high tuitions.
Sounds like good bait for some democrat voters.

Do you imagine that an engineering student from India or Taiwan pays the slightest attention to Hamas rallies or transgender restrooms?
I’m actually refreshed a bit to see so many on FR against this. And we absolutely should be against it.
I was worried when I logged on that I should “trust the plan” and it was 4D chess, or something. Let’s hope someone talks sense into him because this is totally nuts.
The only thing that should be stapled to a diploma is an exit visa.
The headline is deceptive. Trump is against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. He has no problem (as far as I know) with legal immigration. This story is designed to make Trump look like a squish.

That’s beside the point. We don’t want ANY foreigners here with two-year degrees in Basket Weaving. Every green card he gives to an immigrant dilutes the opportunities for American grads.
