Despite Moscow's threats over Finland's NATO accession, Russian bases near the Finnish border are virtually empty as Russia has redeployed personnel and equipment from these bases to Ukraine.
Source: Finnish broadcaster Yle, citing sources in intelligence, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Despite Russia threatening Finland with "consequences" if it joined NATO and pledging to increase its military presence near the border, Russian military bases in the region are far emptier than they were a year ago….

No, but it’s not your vicarious romp through strategy and tactics either. You may be disappointed.
Thousands of guys are dying on both sides - but it's a peer artillery war, with the special sauce of killer drones and satellite reconnaissance.
The Ukrainians got the short end of the artillery stick. The REAL short end.
You didn't ask for my Eastern Europe/Central Europe historical reading list.
Bingo!
I wonder how many would instantly defect to the West, just to get a square meal.
Size comparison of typical U.S. soldier and S. Korean soldier, with a North Korean soldier in the middle:
Regards,
You actually thought that your post was persuasive, on Free Republic of all places.
No, you offered your eastern front reading list. But if your other reading lists are more combat-narratives, they aren't going to interest me much. I burned out on that stuff many years ago. I do have around here a copy of Stalin's War by McMeekin, but I can't get into it. I am sick to death of Stalin. Moreso because Putin is emulating him. Latest acquisition is a book on Lev Gumilev, another one of those political "philosophers" I call Putin's Guidestars. More to the point today than knowing details of who blew up whose tanks in 1943. Amazon still owes me Snyder's The Reconstruction of Nations which I am looking forward to. Gumilev may have to wait a bit.
Snyder's text is copiously footnoted, he read and interviewed hundreds of sources for Road. "Steeped" indeed, LOL.
nb: Does Oliver Stone even know what footnotes are?
Swedish MPs green-light controversial US defense deal
The sub-heading of the second article is:
"The deal gives the US access to 17 military bases and training areas in Sweden."
Meanwhile, here at home:
Migrant encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border hit a record high at the end of 2023
And the American taxpayer is footing the bill for all this absolute insanity.
Time for Finland to take the initiative and gain some territory
Talvisota Part II.
Yea, and everyone seems to equate victory with taking land. In this war, Russia has stated from the the very beginning that disarming Ukriane with weapons, rather than toe-to-toe was the preferred method of disarming them. Washington leads the propoganda war by constantly talking about how many Russian’s are dying in human waves, yet we have never seen a published result of these tactics, and Russian recruitment is strong in spite of the loss of around 100,000 men; Ukraine on the other hand is approaching 800,000 KIA.
I think we are going to see a drop in Ukrainian drones. China supplies the bulk of what they have; yet Russia never made public complaints about China supporting Ukriane thru free trade. Now that Washington has blamed China, I am sure they are cutting off any assistance to Ukraine. It took Russia time to match NATO’s investment, but let the ass kicking begin. I seriously think by October Afghanistan 2.0 Biden/DNC Style will have been accomplished at the expense of 1,125,000 KIA’d Ukrainians.
Why would NORK dictator want to have a distant group of his victims learning war skills far from his all seeing conrol? Also, once in Ukraine, how many might defect so they can move back to south Korea?
The remembrance of Finnish snipers have made the Russians cautious of any military movement towards them. They’ll leave that rattlesnake alone.
When the regular Ukrainian population finds out that number, there will be nowhere in the world that the former president of the Ukraine will be able to hide.

It’s not like the Finns are likely to invade them.
Deeply sad that someone who served America for so long has drunk so much Russian propaganda that he has come to believe it and hate his own country and its allies.
