>>Juneteenth as a federal and now state holiday is humorous to say the least. White people having a paid day off on Juneteenth is not only the antithesis of the entire day, it represents a sinister cycle of America reluctantly giving Black Americans what we are owed, and only if white America can benefit from it.
We still struggle with housing, education, transportation and health because of the generational ignorance to racism. To pay white people on Juneteenth is a slap in the face to every Black American and the ancestors we come from. If these systems were so invested in helping Black communities, they would commit to that notion materially. They would put their money where their mouths are.
But we as Black Americans know better than to expect that.
So each year it’ll get worse. More red and green will seep into marketing flyers. More “partnerships” will develop. More logos stamped on the backs of our shirts.

This is a holiday brought to you by the Republican party. That’s why they mad.
I actually read the article and have no idea what she wants, but that might be explained by the fact that she is a community activist and a recent college graduate. I don’t have a problem with the holiday, or a real interest in it either. I can see how it could be important to black Americans. But she doesn’t want that acknowledgment from me, a white man, so I will just consider it a day on which the letter carrier won’t be around to fill my mailbox with junk.
Dammit! We want something special. Something that only US can celebrate while you honkeys sulk and feel guilty! After you give us money, and die, only then we will be “equal”.
We should celebrate that day when after the white people ended slavery the freed slaves all went to Africa to make the black people end slavery in their countries.
Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.
Black folk will tell white folk when they’ve done enough. Meanwhile, shut up, pay out, don’t think you share any common ground, common holidays, common heroes, common culture. Sit down, shut up, pay out.
Today is also National Garfield Day (the anniversary of the first time the cartoon appeared). More Americans know who Garfield is than know what Juneteenth is supposed to commemorate.
So it is supposed to be a holiday for blacks only? Everyone else has to work?
“We need another black national holiday. We only have two of them.”
I also support a law mandating more blacks in commercials and entertainment. They’re only at 98% domination of 98% of all programming. Shameful!
So here we go again...
...Black...white...
...Black...white...
...Black...white...
Whites marginalized, blacks always capitalized.
Stop shooting, robbing, mugging, raping, car jacking, murdering, home invading, vandalizing, embezzling and MAYBE you will get that respect that you desperately demand..
What a bunch of ungrateful idiots. The people who practiced slavery are dead. Today’s Whiteys are working extra shifts to pay the people who blame their failures on Whitey.
Snicker.
Conservatives should stop idolizing King. If he were alive today, he'd be pro-Obama, pro-BLM, pro-reparations.
He presented a soft image so as not to "scare" whites, but his heart was far to the left of his speeches.
I’m all in favor of the holiday with two minor adjustments.
1. Change the name to ‘Pick your own cotton day”
2. Get a cotton ball from your bathroom and wear it proudly on your shirt.
She just loves the slavery of marxism.
Works in South Africa. Except that was for majority rule. This is for minority rule.
Zimbabwe, also.
MZRA
Hey, Nia: tell us how much more blacks disproportionately draw off the various welfare programs than white people (who disproportionately foot the bill). YOU owe US.
Yeah, except I don’t know how many people know what Rhodesia was before this gang wrecked it.
