Oregon voters will likely decide in November whether to establish a historic universal basic income program that would give every state resident roughly $750 annually from increased corporate taxes.
The proposal, Initiative Petition 17, would establish a 3% tax on corporations’ sales in Oregon above $25 million and distribute that money equally among Oregonians of all ages. As of Friday, its backers had turned in more than 135,000 signatures, which is higher than the 117,173 required to land on the ballot.

“if you own a small grocery chain in Oregon”
Wheaties - 3%
Kellogg’s - 3%
Nabisco - 3%
Doritos - 3%
Why would Khamas and the ChiComs do this?
Surely, America’s destruction was their fault and not Americans’.
Buy in Vancouver, Washington!
I’m going to have to charge you 3% more unless you pay in cash.
>”Vote for this and we will split the loot with you.” >
SO OBVIOUS! I feel like I am in a dark tunnel with no way out.
“Why would Khamas and the ChiComs do this?”
a congressional seat in eastern Oregon?
Demand proof that they’re really gone, and until proof is satisfactory that they’ve totally pulled up stakes, keep billing for taxes. California and New York do the same.
Oregon has no sales tax, so the commies probably mean a 3% tax on gross income, because yes, they are that stupid.
If companies were smart...they'd be leaving these liberal areas.
One more example of how socialists hate to see productive people and businesses making money. The owners of productive corporations are already taxed twice on their earnings: once at the corporate level, and again at the personal level on dividends.
Easy peasy the dems raise taxes on the ignorant proletariat who smile and nod wiapproval as long as they get their $750, until they are told that it will be restricted to only illegals, drug addicts and homeless
Excellent!
I’m in the market for real estate in Oregon, and this will destroy jobs sending demand for housing down. I’ll get a better deal. And I’m retired, so I don’t need one of the jobs that will flee.
EXACTLY
These payments are not taxable?
Lucky you
$750 a year? Thats $62.50 per month.
What the heck is that for?
That wont pay for a meal for 4 at any restaurant in that state.
Thats not even a good rum allowance.
That would buy enough cheap vodka for each month to pickle the liver.
Talk about pandering to idiots.
Here’s your sign!!
2024: "Nobody needs to make more than $25 million!"
2025: "Nobody needs to make more than $15 million!"
2026: "Nobody needs to make more than $5 million!"
2027: "Nobody needs to make money! Send it to us so we can distribute it right!"
How very Communist.
Something about “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits...” comes to mind.
