I’ve gained respect for Morgan Freeman both as an actor and a human being.
I believe Denzel Washington has said the same thing.

A month is not enough it is ALL of American History?
He’s right about this, but I’m sure he’s probably willing to align himself with the radical race hustlers that demand to be treated differently, thus the creation of Black History Month. Reparations, quotas, First Black this and First Black that. Whether it’s schools, beauty pageants, movies and TV shows, Awards shows, every element of our culture has been made aware of the separate attention and accommodations that need to be made to blacks. Is Freeman speaking out against all those, as well?
One of the explanations behind Morgan Freeman’s high-level popularity is his pro-America, common sense outlook on life.
I thought it was fag month. I think negro month is later on
Quality is built in, not added on.
There may have been a time it was necessary to spotlight “black history,” because of white-washing, both in the sense of excluding blacks and in the sense of excluding the bad or even the problematic. But, that time is past. Today, all of what is good and all of what is bad about our history is our history, just as all of what is white and all of what is non-white.
My wife loved the movie “Harriet” about Harriet Tubman, esp. as the movie showed her to be the strong Christian woman that she was.
One of the funniest news clip that you’ll ever see is Morgan Freeman talking to Mike Wallace about Black History Month. Wallace arrogantly assumes that Freeman is for it, and is shocked when he says he isn’t. Freeman then asks Wallace if he wants a White History Month for his people and Wallace sputters that he is Jewish (as if that isn’t white). Then Freeman asks if he wants a Jewish History Month and Wallace says “no” in horror at the thought. Comedy gold.
A righteous dude.
Thank You Mr Freeman for saying that!
He’s right about this. There is no Greek History Month in the US and there doesn’t need to be
We are American and proud to be
On principle, I agree that Black History Month is not necessary. But several years ago I watched a fascinating TV show on Paul Revere Williams, the architect of several of my favorite buildings, and the show probably would not have aired if they had not been celebrating Black History Month.
The beautiful Rita Hayworth was the favorite of GIs during World War II. After divorcing her rich Arab husband, he offered her one million dollars to raise their daughter as a Muslim. She turned it down.
From Wikipedia:
“Nothing will make me give up Yasmin’s chance to live here in America among our precious freedoms and habits. While I respect the Moslem faith, and all other faiths, it is my earnest wish that my daughter be raised as a normal, healthy American girl in the Christian faith. There isn’t any amount of money in the entire world for which it is worth sacrificing this child’s privilege of living as a normal Christian girl here in the United States. There just isn’t anything else in the world that can compare with her sacred chance to do that. And I’m going to give it to Yasmin regardless of what it costs.”
My, has Hollywood changed.
February may only have 28 or 29 days, but black history is celebrated for several days around Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, and of course we now also have Juneteenth.
Maybe Morgan Freeman's point is that all 12 months should be devoted to black history, not just one month.
