(NEXSTAR) – The U.S. may have fallen off the list of the happiest countries for the first time this year but that doesn’t mean there aren’t pockets of happy folks across the nation. In fact, 10 U.S. cities recently ranked among the happiest cities in the world.
Researchers with the Institute for Quality of Life, a London-based organization, recently released its latest ‘Happy City Index’ of the 250 happiest cities in the world. They analyzed various “indicators…that directly relate to the quality of life and the sense of happiness of its residents.”
Cities needed to have at least 300,000 inhabitants, though those “whose achievements distinguish them substantially from others, have been added,” researchers explained. They were all ranked based on five areas that “have a direct impact on happiness”: citizens, governance, environment, economy, and mobility.

Rich Chinese and White liberals.
Ignorance is bliss?
Well they say everyone there is gay, so...
“SF is number 10?? WTH”

Someone not all that familiar with the English language confused “happy” with “gay”.
That's all I needed to know to show the report has highly flawed criteria with regards to the US cities.
In total, 10 U.S. cities landed on The Happy City Index. Ranked among the ‘silver’ cities were Boston; Baltimore; and the District of Columbia. Bronze cities were San Francisco; Salt Lake City; Madison, Wisconsin; Pittsburgh; Rochester, Minnesota; and Portland, Oregon.
Crime-ridden, mis-managed Baltimore and Washington DC are considered "Happy Cities?"
Anyone look at the schools in those cities? Crime rates? Corruption?
When I saw this was from leftist children at The Hill I knew it was not worth reading
Yes, one can be quite happy in #2 Zurich Switzerland, if one has the money.....
Is happiness a good measure? happiness can change quickly.
Take the survey at the tax office or take the survey at the ice cream store.........................
It also had several large South African cities in the top global 200. complete and utter BS!
They’re “happy” because they never have to seek out a bathroom. They just go on the sidewalks as long as they are careful to not crap on a BMW George Floyd or Pride mural painted on the sidewalks by RAT politicians.
The article lists all of these cities. Then it goes on to say that one cannot really statistically measure happiness.
Seems like these cities are “liberal paradises.” And most of the progressives I’ve met spend a lot of their time miserable.
Well OK. Just because I wouldn't be happy there doesn't mean the people there aren't happy.
But I remain seriously skeptical of the whole list.
This list sounds like the exact opposite of reality.
The survey’s main criteria must have been most opiate consumption per capita followed by highest levels of election fraud.
What a bunch of horse poop! SF DC what are they looking at as the best city to live in?
Do not waste your time on this article!
Penn State University is in Happy Valley.
It’s not so happy for Graham Spanier and Jerry Sandusky though.
That's the point of Zürich.
