Seven people were shot and another injured at a car meet in northern Massachusetts early Sunday morning, local police said.
The shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. in Methuen, Mass., near the New Hampshire border. Police Chief Scott McNamara said officers arrived at the scene to find seven gunshot victims and an eighth person who suffered a head injury while attempting to flee the scene.
Five of the gunshot victims are in stable condition, while two are in critical condition, authorities said in a Sunday press conference. The victims’ ages ranged from their late teens to early twenties.

There used to be a time where we would almost immediately have photos of the shooters. That would give the public a heads-up about a person who might be violent. Now, as a general practice, not so much.
I worked at a facility in Methuen like 20 years ago and it wasn’t a bad place. Some quite nice parts.

Meetup or one of those takeovers? The object of a takeover seems to be getting hit by a car doing donuts. If there’s some other purpose, I don’t know what it could be.
This isn’t a genuine classic car enthusiast gathering of mostly over 65 year olds talking replacement original Buick part as on the great series Criminal Minds where Agent Tara actually finds a rare part for Supervisory Special Agent David Rossi’s 1947 Buick Special Series Model 41. (She is able to work on cars thanks to her dad showing her all. She has a 1970s Opel GT herself.

There have been Oakland and LA California news stories showing mobs of young people surrounding wildly careening cars and donuts at high speeds in regular city intersections and in front of shopping areas at night.
Cops keep hands off.

Not necessarily. It seems like in order to protect one or two classes of criminals, we’re masking all of them. Unless it’s a white male with right-wing social media posts (whether real or planted) and guns are involved.
