Rubio’s name rises toward top of Trump’s VP shortlist

... Strategists said Rubio’s background, experience as a legislator and skills as a political candidate would make him a strong candidate to widen the ticket’s appeal.

“I happen to think that he’s the candidate the Biden campaign probably fears the most,” said Florida-based Republican strategist Justin Sayfie. “Of all the people that President Trump can pick to be his running mate, I think that the Biden campaign probably would not like to see Marco Rubio on the ticket.”

Rubio, 53, is among the youngest candidates on Trump’s short list. He was first elected to the Senate in 2010 with support from the Tea Party faction of the GOP after serving almost a decade in the Florida state House. He was seen as a rising star in the party and perhaps the future face of the GOP ahead of his presidential run in 2016.

Rubio could help with Hispanic voters, who are more up for grabs than usual this year.

President Trump needs to select a strong Christian as Vice President.

America is in a Spiritual battle; the Lord is in Command. The Vice President must be a believer who can hear and obey His Voice.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. (Psalm 33:12).

VP is usually a nothing burger. All of the people floated for Trump are lame or poison (except for Elise Stefanik)

This was the last compelling VP pick - it’s a shame that the misogynistic Dems (I know…it’s redundant) got involved.

With extremely rare exceptions the senate is not a place to go for leaders, unless of course you’re a democrat. We need a leader type who is ready to go in 2028 and Little Hands is not the person.

Color me dubious this sounds like thr establishment trying and wishing this to happen.

Rubio is an establishment guy and he’s from Florida Trumps home state so brings little tactically to the table.

We shall see, but this pushing of Rubio in by thr media seems like the establishment trying to make it happen to me

Trump needs a successor. I don’t want a congresscritter, governors make better presidents plus Burgum is a rich businessman and less likely to be bought.

Voting means NOTHING, when they just truck in the amount of “mail-in” ballots, to offset your legitmate vote. What planet are YOU living on?

Gov. Glenn Youngkin puts Virginia in play. If we win VA, it is game over in the Electoral College.

So, is Rubio resigning from the Senate and moving to another US state to run for VP? Or has Trump decided he is going to relocate from Florida, or does he not need Florida’s electoral votes? Any story that has Rubio or anyone from Florida as VP are fake the author doesn’t understand the constitution

I am enjoying these weak-minded FReepers blaming the source for this.

This is not the first article citing Rubio as a possible running mate. There have been many others, which means he is in the running.

It does not necessarily mean he is the leading contender, but it means there is something there.

I’m waiting for all the DeSantis haters to tell us how principled and MAGA Rubio is compared to the Governor.

The enemy attempting to push an easily manipulated, closet homosexual onto the Republican ticket.

Democrats fear this person most. Clickbait claim.

Actually, I like Rand Paul as well, but I never hear him mentioned. Perhaps that’s the plan!

I love Ben Carson, but I don’t think he has the fighting spirit in him that will be needed. He would definitely be wonderful in the cabinet again, heading up the revitalization of the cities - such as the Opportunity Zones undertaking. I don’t know what happened with that.

That is an unsupported presumption.
