DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) – Iran and Sweden carried out a prisoner swap Saturday that saw Tehran release a European Union diplomat and another man for an Iranian convicted in Stockholm of committing war crimes over his part in 1988 mass executions in the Islamic Republic.
The arrest of Hamid Nouri by Sweden in 2019 as he traveled there as a tourist likely sparked the detentions of the two Swedes, part of a long-running strategy by Iran since its 1979 Islamic Revolution to use those with ties abroad as chip in negotiations with the West.

Sounds like a raw deal.
Actually, I like that kind of deal.
The war criminal was safe in a prison, while when he's free and out and about, he can be targeted and blown to bits with a drone or other means. Some Iranian dead officers can attest to that. Or maybe they can't. ;)

I agree with you. No problem that my government released the war criminal. No reason for us to pay for his upkeep. And as you say once out and about he may meet with a fatal accident.
The really bad thing with this deal is that a third Swedish citizen is languishing in an Iranian prison, and he was not included in the deal.
Ahmad Reza Djalali
He is a doctor of medicine and specialist in disaster medicine. He was arrested in 2016 during a visit to two Iranian universities. After one and a half years of detention he was convicted of espionage and received a death sentence. He has remained in solitary confinement since then.

Surely, he can be swapped for some other Iranian or Hamas terrorist, who can become future targets and become martyrs for their dastardly cause(s). We want as many terrorist martyrs as possible. Martyrs don't come back to cause harm.
