He continued, "Paris voted for Theriault. That made up my mind. I'm sorry, but I'm done standing up for anything in this community. I'm officially retired from politics. This absolutely disgusts me." That takes being bitter to a whole new level.

Austin took 65% of the vote so Jeff really has no leg to stand on in his complaint. Soboleski was always the underdog in this race.
The First District Congressional race was an upset as Ron Russell who jumped in February beat Andrew Piantidosi who has been running since last fall. He beat him 55 to 45%.

Austin Theriault is a straight shooter, a solid conservative. Apparently simply winning the primary is resulting in separating the wheat from the chaff. Golden is a weasel.

A quick googling indicates this guy already quit the Republican party once in his short political career because he was butthurt over his committee assignments. He then rejoined the party in the very next election when his plan didn’t work because he’s got principles or something.

A Republican lawmaker announced he is retiring from politics due to a candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump's victory in a Congressional primary election. Really, Newsweek? Making a possessive out of the entire clause?
Should instead read:
A Republican lawmaker announced he is retiring from politics due to the victory, in a Congressional primary election, of a candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

And Trump is now up 1 in Maine’s contorted Democrat/communist election “process.” Maine would be a nice pick up.
