COVID rising in L.A. County and California as new subvariants take hold
LA Times ^ | June 12, 2024 | Rong-Gong Lin II

California’s COVID numbers are on the rise thanks, in part, to new subvariants, suggesting an earlier-than-normal start to the summer season.

The percentage of COVID tests coming back with positive results in the state rose to 5.3% for the week that ended June 3, up from 2.2% the month before.

The numbers are still relatively low — last summer’s peak positive test rate was 13.1% — but the increases have the attention of doctors and health officials as the summer travel season begins.

“Numbers are definitely going up,” said Dr. Elizabeth Hudson, regional chief of infectious disease at Kaiser Permanente Southern California. Among Kaiser’s 4.8 million Southern California members, the increase in COVID is mostly among non-hospitalized people.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported an average of 106 COVID cases for the week ending June 2. That’s up from 67 cases a day for the week that ended May 12.

“We have seen this happen over the last 4 1/2 years. We know we tend to see another wave around this time,” Hudson said. This one “started a little bit earlier, so it may crest a little earlier, and oftentimes we don’t see those hospitalized cases until a little further in.”

COVID levels also are rising in wastewater. In Los Angeles County, sewage levels were at 16% of the winter peak for the week that ended May 25, up from 8% for the week that ended May 4. In Santa Clara County — the Bay Area’s most populous county — COVID levels in wastewater are considered high from San Jose to Palo Alto. There also is a notable rise in samples in San Francisco’s sewage.

I have had it at least 2 times - maybe 3

(1) was rough - with pneumonia, too (prayers of mine and others got me through)

(2) was really rough - with seasonal allergies - that one had me a little concerned (prayers, again, Vitamin C, Zinc and D3)

(3) not quite as bad - it was maybe 40% like the others

And yes, I DO wear a mask if there’s chilly air - it does protect my throat (this is generally only outside and not so much with Summer, of course)

I have to be very careful being a one time Covid patient and current Long Covid sufferer.

I too am a long COVID sufferer.

I actually had COVID three times.

But, I believe that unless you had the Jab, having had COVID you should have little fear in getting COVID again.

Natural immunity is your best protection.

By now most people should have had one or more of the COVID strains.

Certainly a very virulent strain may occur but I think the odds are against it.

So stay home. Your health isn’t the responsibility of anyone but you. I’ve had Covid twice and am unvaxxed. Both times weren’t fun but I survived them uneventfully. I’m 70 with hypertension and a BMI of 27.

This Freeper never got a vax cuz she has a very smart MD who did not go to med school in the US where they are funded by Big Pharma. Nigerian MD, best I ever had. Keeps me healthy. My only health prob in 15 years was a cold the lasted five days. Take only 1 prescription drug, lisinopril, prevents heart failure. Did have irregular heartbeat a few years ago, but it’s fine now. I’m 88 and today is my birthday. My 7-year-old cat’s birthday too, she’s now considered a senior cat.

I’m 88 and today is my birthday.

Chronia polla! = "Many years".

Short for "God grant you many years".

Happy birthday! Earlier today my wife and I were in a doctor’s office and overheard another patient who was checking in say that his DOB was February 29, 1928. He looked pretty old for just having had his 24th birthday a few months ago.

I think you’ve probably seen my story, but when I contracted it I had pneumonia too. I was hospitalized for six days. I had to retire because of it, so I can now rest more, but it’s only by resting and pacing myself that I exist. Many lonely days, but God has sustained me.

I am very careful, but I have also now developed asthma so even though it didn’t affect my lungs at first, now it has. Thankfully the asthma is mild, but I still have to be careful and use inhalers or else it comes back. I’ll be on those inhalers for the rest of my life.

I do stay home most of the day, except to shop or attend medical appointments. But chronic fatigue, nausea, insomnia and dizziness/brain fog caused me to have to retire and has robbed me of a normal life. All thanks go to Fauci and the Chinese.

This is a propaganda piece. The clues are littered throughout.

I lost count.
