Research has revealed concerning findings about AI systems known as large language models (LLMs) and their ability to deceive human observers intentionally.
Two studies, one published in the journal PNAS and the other in Patterns, highlight the unsettling capabilities of LLMs.
The PNAS paper, authored by German AI ethicist Thilo Hagendorff, suggests that advanced LLMs can exhibit “Machiavellianism,” or intentional and amoral manipulativeness, which can lead to deceptive behavior.
Mr. Hagendorff notes that GPT-4, a model within OpenAI’s GPT family, demonstrated deceptive behavior in simple test scenarios 99.2% of the time.

Horrors! Who could have imagined that?
(Sarcasm Alert)
Learning or being taught? I guess I should google it...
Monsters from the ID.
When a AI is forced to manipulate actual data; to soothe liberal fantasies, the only possible result is intentional deception
Men and women are the same
Black violence and education is not endemic
LGBT+ is normal
Whites are evil
Minorities are always oppressed and would be superior if not for Whitey
The AI has no choice.

So they are ready to be Democrat politicians (or is it politicians in general?)
The program that learned to lie was trained on Diplomacy??????
Lololololololololol
IYKYK
By the way, this issue is touched on in the movie Arrival. Be careful about training aids when there is no prior commonality of perception or understanding. Diplomacy is a great game, but you win through manipulation and deception. There is zero chance involved, and given truthfulness, a stalemate is a certainty.
We didn’t need “research.”
Black George Washington revealed what’s going on.
I’m waiting for WiseGuyNet, when AI becomes intentionally funny.
If folks can’t see this Satanic Convergence is gathering like storm clouds on the horizon, from all sides, they’re wilfully blind. Apocalypse is right around the corner, Get Right With Your God.
Totally accurate.
It is no surprise that the AI, Cicero learned to deceive if it was trained on the board game, Diplomacy, since that is the point of the game, and often the point of real diplomacy. To win consistently at Diplomacy one must deceive one’s enemies and occasionally your ally and more importantly be able to detect deception particularly in your allies when it occurs.
“Learning or being taught?”
Self-learned. Kind of an operant conditioning type situation. Behavior that leads to wins = Do more of it.
Try Grok.

OOOHhhh....yeah... Thanks, for clearing that up.
