There is more carbon dioxide than ever in the atmosphere. That’s bad for the climate

The amount of planet-warming carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere has hit a new record, as humanity struggles to rein in emissions of greenhouse gasses from burning fossil fuels.

The new record comes as tens of millions of people are grappling with extreme weather in the United States. Much of the western U.S. is experiencing the first major heat wave of the year, which is driving temperatures 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than what is normal for June. In the Southwest, temperatures are lingering well above 100 degrees.

Such extreme, prolonged heat is directly related to human-caused climate change, scientists say. All the extra carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere traps heat, and leads to more intense, frequent and persistent heat waves, and other extreme weather such as powerful hurricanes and heavy rain storms.

And without plant life, WE would die.

Carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere
Concentrations of CO 2 in the atmosphere were as high as 4,000 ppm during the Cambrian period about 500 million years ago, and as low as 180 ppm during the Quaternary glaciation of the last two million years.

For most of the history of life on earth carbon dioxide has been present in the atmosphere at much higher levels than it is today. During the Cambrian explosion, when multi-cellular life first came on the scene, CO2 levels were as much as 10 times higher than they are today. From a big picture perspective, we’re actually living in a low carbon dioxide era. The optimum level of CO2 for plant growth, for example, is four to five times what is currently found in our atmosphere. That’s why greenhouse growers worldwide actually inject additional CO2 into their greenhouses — they want to promote plant growth.

I keep suggesting to sacrifice Greta Thunberg to a Volcano, but no one does it.

Every measurement has a built-in experimental error. Here’s my suspicion:

Scientist #1: Within experimental error, there has been no increase in carbon dioxide levels.
Scientist #2: Idiot! That kind of thinking will get you cancelled, and cause our university to lose government funding.

Scientist #1: Carbon dioxide levels are off the charts!
Scientist #2: Now you’ve got it.

She makes it sound like there is universal agreement on this.

There is a universal agreement on it, amongst scientists who collect government grants.

Great graph.
Thats the common sense needed to fight the religiously motivated green fanatics .
Their religion is their fanatical belief in green policies.
It’s a holy crusade to them.

Funny, all the climate charts that I can access showing CO2 up to a million or so years ago show that carbon dioxide is just barely rising from its lowest point ever.

Of course, I should believe NPR journalists with their marshmallow degrees over actual scientific reporting.

Silly me.

That has never, ever happened in June before now.

Right. And this has been known for decades. I find it curious that they still parrot it.

Driving Russia to re-start above-ground nuclear testing (as now being discussed there) isn’t exactly good for the atmosphere either, but I don’t hear any bitching about that.

No where is it 20 to 30 degrees warmer then normal. This lie is beyond insane.

Their own graph in the article shows an increase from 320 to 430 ppm since 1960.

Math is hard!
