Benny Gantz, an Israeli War Cabinet member, resigns from government over lack of plan for postwar Gaza

A member of Israel's three-man War Cabinet announced his resignation on Sunday over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's handling of the war in Gaza.

Benny Gantz, a popular former centrist military chief and one of the prime minister's most prominent critics, joined Netanyahu's government shortly after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack in a show of unity. His presence also boosted Israel's credibility with the country's international partners as he has good working relations with U.S. officials.

Gantz said Netanyahu is making "total victory impossible" and that the government needs to put the return of the hostages seized Oct. 7 by Hamas "above political survival."

What plan do they need? It should be a shovel-ready project to level the rubble, maybe make the whole area a nice park or preserve.

It’s Biden’s plan for Israel to surrender by allowing Hamas to survive in a Philistine state where they unite with Arafat’s remnant and attack Israel again.

Gantz needs to take the hostage rescue off from the front page news. Post war Hamastan needs to have every Hamas tunnel destroyed and every Hamastinian declared a full fledged martyr to Allah.

Gantz did this bit of traitor theatre in the middle of a war for Israel’s very existence no less. The should drop Gantz off in a Gaza neighborhood since he loves the Gazans so much.

Why don’t Benny take in all the Hammies and Palies and let them live at his house?

Bad for us. The Islamic cult is not compatible with the US, our culture, our history. And here we are importing radicalized members of the Islamic cult. Is there anyone that we won’t welcome?

There should be no “Post-War Gaza”. Just newly acquired Israeli land.

The key here is his definition of “total victory.”

Since he is a Leftist sack of $chitt, I am pretty certain that those words don’t mean what he thinks they do. Good riddance!

What plan do they need? It should be a shovel-ready project to level the rubble, maybe make the whole area a nice park or preserve

They need a serious plan to complete the conquest of whatever land they want, and a plan to defend it indefinitely.

The plan has to include the ongoing rise of Hamas-like opposing forces and increasing hostility from adjacent Sunni muslim states, nuclear attack from Iran, and an end to American military intervention on their behalf.

A plan to dispose of Gaza appears to be beyond the present government. A larger plan to remain a fortress holding out against perpetual attack remains invisible.

I have posted many times that despite superb tactics, the Israeli strategic situation is bad and getting worse.

I'd like to hear a rational argument that this POV is incorrect.

The problem with making plans is you need to know what the situation is before you can make a plan. You can make all the plans you want but if X is significantly higher than you planned for or Y is much lower, then the plans are wasted. The situation on the ground has to be stable to make any plans. That will happen when Hamas leadership is arrested or killed, and the people have come to the conclusion they made a big mistake on October seventh. That’s one condition. If the hostages were tortured to death while the populace stood around cheering, that’s a different condition. If the plan for the former was to restore everything to as close to milk and honey as possible then doing that in the second condition would be to reward barbarism and cause it to happen again as soon as they rearm.

And let’s face reality. There are no good outcomes. Only horrible, bad, and slightly less bad. Which one does he want Netanyahu to invest energy and money into?

perhaps the biggest mistake was for Israel to listen to Biden instead of just finishing off the gaza terrorist nest promptly in response to the attack

dragging it out Biden’s way has cost Israel plenty, plus it has enabled all the Nazis around the world (including some I, for one, never suspected) to come out of their ratholes and scream like rabid banshees

as for long-range strategic position, it has never been any good imho, except that Israel could destroy any attackers with far more powerful weapons if that ever became necessary
