Zelensky Fires Back at Russian Claims That He’s Illegitimate After His Mandate Ended in May: ‘Our People Are Free’

With his constitutional Presidential mandate expired, the ‘champion for democracy’, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is facing the discredit by the Russian enemies.

Recently re-elected in a landslide, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s has been repeatedly clear about how Moscow sees the Ukrainian leader as lacking legitimacy.

For the first time, in a press conference in France alongside President Emmanuel Macron, Zelensky addressed the allegations and dismissed them.

Reuters reported:

President Volodymyr Zelensky said his legitimacy is recognized and determined by the Ukrainian people while criticizing that of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“‘President Zelensky’s legitimacy is recognized by the people of Ukraine. Our people are free. Putin’s legitimacy is recognized only by comrade Putin’, he told a press conference in Paris.”

As we see, the leader who cancelled elections sees himself as more legitimate than the one who held them and won in a landslide. So it goes.

The Presidential elections in Ukraine were supposed to take place this spring, and by late May, Zelensky’s five-year term of office ended.

Zelensky now is ruling by force of Martial law in his country.

“However, martial law introduced following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 bans any wartime election. The constitution says the president serves until a newly elected one takes office.

Putin claimed several times that Zelensky is illegitimate after his five-year term ended this May.”

Putin says that the only Ukrainian authority Russia recognizes as of now is the speaker of Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk.

But Western leaders – who are after all Ukraine’s sponsors and handlers – have not questioned Zelensky’s legitimacy.

Zelensky’s response comes days after Putin started claiming that presidential power should be shifted to speaker of Ukraine’s parliament Stefanchuk.

It is perhaps not a great sign that Zelensky is now talking of himself in the third person. Kyiv Independent reported him as saying.: “It is the people of Ukraine who elect him, and I am very grateful for their support. Our people are free. This is what we are fighting for.”

The latest presidential election should have been held on March 31, 2024, with Zelensky’s term would ending on May 20.

Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk also dismissed Putin’s claims about Zelensky’s legitimacy; “Volodymyr Zelensky remains and will remain Ukraine’s president until the end of martial law. All this is in accordance with Ukraine’s Constitution and laws.”

Ukraine is a relatively 'new' country after breaking away from the Soviet Union. Even when the U.S. broke away from England, there were growing pains and we needed assistance from various players around the world. Ukraine needs the U.S. and other EU countries, not only for economic reasons, but for defense. Putin took Crimea and Georgia and was looking for more. So, no matter how corrupt the Uke government is or was, should Russia be given carte-blank with trying to take over Ukraine. If it's ok for Russia to take Ukraine, would the problems in Europe be solved? Or, would more problems be created. If corruption means that Ukraine should not be defended, then, we might as well forget about defending the U.S., because, there is more corruption in this country than anywhere else on the planet."

Let me repurpose your rant for the audience to expose your rabid evil.

The Germans set up shop in Poland and France and Italy and all over the world. We set up shop in Tunisia and in Lybia. We set up shop where we're needed. Vichy France is a relatively 'new' country after breaking away from the French who are now joined to the Fatherland. Even when the Germany consolidated in the 18th century, there were growing pains and we needed assistance from various players around the world. Vichy France needs Germany. and other Axis countries, not only for economic reasons, but for defense. England took part of France and Poland and was looking for more. So, no matter how corrupt the government is or was, should England be given carte-blank with trying to take over Vichy France. If it's ok for England to take over the world, would the problems in Europe be solved? Or, would more problems be created. Have you noticed that all of the Bidenista Ukraine backers are now calling for censorship on FR?

Isn't it telling? Feds, government apparatchiks, with a light dusting of National Review neocons. We've been on to their act for more than two years, and they don't like it one bit.

You are describing the “white man's burden” philosophy when white people are being colonized, marginalized, and attacked in America and Europe. It is rather stupid of you unless you are a virtue-signaling leftist agitator who is full of krap.

Using a term to describe the reality of what's happened or continues to go on, does not invalidate the reasons for 'helping' certain countries. Stupidity occurs when people fail to acknowledge that, many things need to occur in order to maintain the peace and insure that things don't go wrong again.

The krap is all on your side. Deal with the reality that the world is, and forget the idealistic and dumb views. Idealism often leads to things going wrong and even to wars. Dealing with things in realistic ways and in ways that lead to progress and that prevents wars, is the preferred way of dealing with things.

"Bunch of krap!
The CCP is the same as Xi. Xi is the same as the CCP. Nobody in China dares to oppose Xi, and Xi controls everything that the CCP says and does. Anybody that dares oppose Xi will never be heard from again."

Bunch of krap!

The Ukrainian government, composed of those allowed by Zelensky to run for office, is the same as Zelensky. Zelensky is the same as the government he controls with an iron fist. Nobody in Umraine dares to oppose Zelensky, and Zelensky controls everything that the Umraine says and does. Anybody that dares oppose Zelensky will never be heard from again. Zelensky had American journalist Gonzalo Lira imprisoned, tortured and then later murdered.

On 20 March 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a ban on 11 political parties for alleged ties with Russia: Opposition Platform — For Life, Party of Shariy, Nashi, Opposition Bloc, Left Opposition, Union of Left Forces, Derzhava, Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, Socialist Party of Ukraine, Socialists and Volodymyr Saldo Bloc.

Sirius Lee will soon be advocating for Freepers to be rounded up, shipped off to camps, and exterminated - censorship is the first step of genocide. He is nothing but a totalitarian arguing for the censorship on this forum and for all Americans. Pure scumbag behavior.

"My response to you is about responding in kind, so, intellectually, I was only stooping to your level. Oftentimes, using grown-up language will not get across to the lesser intellectual. It's brilliant to talk to a dog that would appreciate someone that listens and talks to him at his level. Dogs tend to wag their tails when people talk to them in kiddie language. Your kiddie posts demanded language that responded in kind. Brilliant! I must say."

Now you are calling me a dog? The gloves are off because the mental midget is using fighting words! You must be really embarrassed about the stupidity and vacuousness of your rant. That is why you overcompensated by calling your verbal vomit brilliant. It is as if you were caught with your rhetorical pants down and now you are desperately trying to educate everyone about shrinkage.

You can do better shortbus marxist.

Yet, it's you and your typical cohorts who are trying to shut up the free expression of ideas, with such tactics as branding me and others as "Marxist neocons', without any shred of evidence of communist beliefs on our part. It's the same kind of language that democrats and real communists use to silence the opposition, with words such as "Nazis" or 'fascist' and other demeaning terms. We accuse democrats of sling what they accuse others of doing, but right here on FR, we have people such as you doing the same exact things that democrats do.

To silence the opposition, you use terms as "neocons' and "Zeeper" and communist, and those dumb tactics don't and won't work. People with principles won't be silenced, and people with the attack tactics and dumb labels for others, are the ones that don't belong in a forum for intellectual forms of discussions. The attack comments belong in forums where the mind lacks ideas and intellect, and where the such posters can't make their points with actual facts and intelligence and knowledge.

Now you are calling me a dog?

You ae so dense, and intellectually and intelligence deficient, that you can't even recognize that, I was using 'dog' as an analogy. If I was going to call you a god, I would have done it directly.

Go back to grade school to get some reading comprehension.

"shortbus marxist"? There you go again, with the backyard bully tactic, lacking of intelligent content.

Yes, ‘His people are free.’ But not free enough to elect a President. They aren’t called ‘emergencies.’ They aren’t called ‘mandates’. They ARE called ELECTIONS - and you don’t have them since you signed the Martial Law order.

Parliament extended its normal 5 year election period during WWII. There were, however, elections held to fill vacant seats in Parliament.

Evidence?

Zelensky is allowed to express his opposition to any candidate, but, is he allowed to ban them or imprison them because they might oppose him in any way?

And, when it comes to wartime actions, anybody that is in any way allied or friendly with the aggressor, should not be allowed to be in office. We have that kind of people in the U.S., with Tlaib and Omar Ilhan, and they should be banned from running for congress, because, they support enemies of the U.S.; so, should we have allowed them to hold any kind of office from which they can oppose the U.S. and support our enemies? We are not in any war right now with Russia or China, but, like Zelensky, people like Omar and Tlaib would be considered dangerous during any war effort.

Let me repurpose your rant for the audience to expose your rabid evil.

If by 'repurpose' you meant twisting everything around to completely change everything, then, you succeeded very well. That's a democrat tactic, where the meaning of "is" is changed drastically.

The U.S. is nowhere close to being an empire, and empire building is not what the U.S. has done, even while we may be involved in one way or another with many countries.

Germany and England and Italy were all involved in empire building in the past, and their empire building meant that ,whatever they conquered would 'belong' to the conquering country. Russia is guilty of having done that in the past, and are still doing so. China is guilty of having done that in the past, and is still doing it. The U.S. was guilty of doing that, but those days are over and the only lands that was 'captured' that way, were the lands that now constitute some of the states of the union. So, what conquests have we had in the last 80 years that became part of the American empire? Do we own Germany or England or France or Italy or Mexico or Israel or any part of Africa or any part of Asia or any part of S.America?

What you did do is to spectacularly sound like a typical democrats, with spinning and twisting the words of others. In fact, not even democrats have sounded as radical as you have been. Pretending to be republican is not the same as being a republican or conservative. We do have RINOs in our midst, but you sound more like a typical and radical democrat with your methods of arguing your points.

Does Viktor Medvedchuk ring a bell?

Viktor Medvedchuk is a former Ukrainian lawyer, businessman, and politician who has lived in exile in Russia since September 2022 after being handed over to Russia in a prisoner exchange. Medvedchuk was labeled as "a pro-Kremlin Ukrainian politician and a personal friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin" and was imprisoned for it.

It only took me two minutes to find this one example. Tell me why I'm wrong or except the permanent nickname Shortbus Marxist.
