A homeless woman is charged with aggravated assault after police said she attacked a woman in Downtown Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon, breaking her nose.
Shurontaya Festa, 27, is being held in the Allegheny County Jail pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Thursday.
According to the criminal complaint, Festa walked up behind a woman in the 600 block of Smithfield Street just after 3 p.m. Wednesday and struck her in the back of the head.

The police responded to this attack by promising to “remain vigilant”. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh business owners are saying that crime is much worse than what is reported. And the mayor’s office is doing nothing.

The victim in this incident was attacked from behind. So situational awareness would only be of limited value.
My rule: Avoid places on a bus line.
I know that’s simply not possible for many workers and students. For them, I’d advise as much situational awareness as possible. And carry, at a minimum, police-grade pepper spray. Fox and Sabre are good brands. Both are available on Amazon.
Oh, and one more thing. Vote Trump.

Avoid Democrat run downtown Pittsburgh period, not just the bus line.
I live in the Pittsburgh area. Between cars or neurological issues, I took the bus many times until about 15 years ago. I would have to transfer buses downtown. It was sketchy then, and I had problems every now and then with homeless and blacks.
Congested urban areas, with socialist governments, deteriorate very quickly.
Yet, people still flock to them, like mosquitoes to a bug zapper.

I’ve travelled the world and walked through some sketchy neighborhoods in third world nations. The ONLY place I had ever been accosted was Seattle on the train. I would feel safer walking the slums of Lehore than I would in a “chocolate” city.
