If they do declare a mistrial and try for a second trial to keep Trump off the campaign trail, there is no way they can deny a change of venue this time.
That said, there is also no way they could survive an "interfering with the election" charge if they try to squeeze this in before the election. The rush to trial would be proof that it is political and not "justice."
That's why they are stuck with waiving this off as no big deal.

I say "there is no way they can deny a change of venue this time" because they have the proven abuses of not changing the venue in the first place staring them in the face. Of course, they can shrug it off as not worth caring about in an environment with no consequences for their own abusive actions.
I said "there is also no way they could survive an "interfering with the election" charge if they try to squeeze this in before the election" because the clock is running out, but a mistrial will be a complete restart, meaning new pre-trial motions, new discovery, etc. Of course, they can deny Trump's sixth amendment rights a second time as not worth caring about in an environment with no consequences for their own abusive actions.
