California has high speed rail so you don’t have to drive.

They’ve spent billions.

Just take the train, right? Right? Oh.

Article:

“Building housing for all”

In California?

That is high comedy—worst homeless nightmares in the country in the large cities.

Unintended consequence of EVs that don’t buy gas but crash the electric grid?

What happens when semi’s go electric? Ha ha ha , the glut of diesel should make it real cheap in states with some common sense.

CA has fired so many shots into its foot, I’m surprised it’s still standing. Fuel cost in CA are some of the highest in the country. One reason is (I think the law is still in effect) that each county has the right to determine the “blend” of fuels sold in its county. Last I heard, there we 32 blends and, hence, no economies of scale for refineries. State and Federal gas taxes add about a dollar to the price. Do you think this new tax will replace those taxes already on the books? No, this will be added to those existing taxes. If CA is stupid enough to add a wealth tax on top of everything else, the state is doomed.

Don't be surprised if California offers a priority payment plan for your power to be one of the last ones taken offline during scheduled brownouts.

Unfortunately this is one time I'm not being sarcastic.

People are already being taxed by the mile. Every gallon of gas is estimated to give x-miles to the gallon, dependent on the size of the vehicle and load it carries. Adding per-mile charges equates to charging more per gallon of fuel. I’s just a stealthy way of hiding what they’re doing. Charging tolls is another way of making people pay more for the roads which they’re already paying with the fuel taxes.

But, people can be lied to when they can’t see the forest for the trees.

Finally getting off this sinking ship. I

I am actually sad i am leaving. Was out at the lake with the jet skis yesterday. Water was beautiful. Weather was perfect. Last night the delta breeze reached us and the night was spectacular. I really wish there was a way northern CA could break away from this nightmare govt.

Toll roads do the same, but they are cumbersome, requiring toll booths, workers, cash, and long lines.

That's so 20th century. Toll roads have gone boothless with RFID decals on the windshields and photos of the license plates that are registered with the state.

Drivers open up "FastPass" or "EZPass" accounts and load minimum amounts from credit cards that are automatically deducted when driving through an automated toll station.

This way, drivers don't need to provide GPS data, odometer readings, won't be charged for out-of-state driving, etc.
