Peace through strength. Rail instead against Biden’s weak leadership.
“McConnell WARNS GOP isolationists not to forget lessons of WWII”
Exactly, and that’s why we’re trying to stop Biden from running roughshod around the world, quite possibly starting a war with China next.
Interestingly when Taft was around the US did mass deportations (wet backs)
Exactly.
Mitch forgets the lessons of Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Thousands of US soldiers killed and wounded. Trillions of dollars spent. Totally wasted.
No more European wars. Not for us. It’s basically part of the Muslim world now and we need to stay out of their coming troubles.

Says the isolationist.
I would advise Sen McConnell to also consider the lessons of WWI and Vietnam. Don’t get involved in something that is none of our business.
Also consider the lessons from the Roman and British Empires. They had to be involved in everything, everywhere. The Roman Empire collapsed. And the British Empire is heading towards collapse.
McCommie dissed one of my great heroes, a man who did much to revive a moribund Republican Party after his election to the Senate in 1938.
Yep one of mine too. A giant compared to McConnell
Indeed. He denounces Taft as an isolationist (he really wasn't), but McCommie is an interventionist.
“Big Red Scare” is nothing new. How many brothers have been lost in ‘police actions’ around the world? I believe in Peace through strength, but we must justify each action legitimately.

Often said WW1 begot WW2 especially in the many threads and debates here . They go like hand in glove.
Why do they forget this?
It begs the question.
What is the lesson of World War Two?
From out here in the cheap seats, in the fullness of time, it looks a whole lot like US Involvement in World War One set the stage. The world has yet to recover. Historians look at “both” wars as a single war, with a monetary bubble and collapse in between.
“Isolationism” (a smear word, carefully and specifically curated for the purpose) was a perfectly rational sentiment after the debacle of the “Great War”. America was founded on the very principle of getting away from all the assholes in Europe, get right down to it.
I understand his point, but it is disingenuous to leave out World War One and suggest 2.0 just came out of left field. Both Communism and Naziism, collectivist totalitarianism were borne out the “War to End All Wars”.
Imagine - no Bolshevik Revolution. No German Revolution. No Korea. Mao. No Viet Nam No Pol Pot. Castro. East German. Cold War. Etc. The bell they rang in 1914 is still ringing today.
I think I read somewhere the political boundaries of Iraq were drawn up by Churchill - all sorts of countries, were made without regard to political or ethnic considerations. My point is a policy of “Non Intervention” is not “Isolationism”, these are specific terms designed to shut down debate.
Congress hasn’t declared War since 1941. In the interim, America has had several wars that no articulable compelling “National Interest” has been proffered. It is getting tedious to listen to someone with no skin in the game telling us to “Rally Round The Flag Boys!” to die on the other side of the world protecting their borders whilst millions and millions pour across our borders.
What does the good Senator suggest our military is actually for? Does anybody even remember? Yeah, good luck with all that.
And ironically, even more forget how Eisenhower, one of the grand architects of D-Day, would later issue a grave warning about the unbridled threat the military-industrial complex would pose to our security and prosperity.
