One neighborhood in East Oakland is so dangerous that construction workers apparently feel unsafe. A construction crew left a residential street unpaved and refused to return because the workers did not feel safe being in the neighborhood.
The situation has left Sobrante Park residents with their street torn up and reduced to gravel with gaping potholes. Resident Shari Angarano said the unfinished road work made bumpy driving conditions on Colorados Drive go from bad to worse.
“The ground is uneven and a lot of the gravel used to fill pot holes is being kicked up,” Angarano said.
The unfortunate situation began in March, when Sobrante Park residents received letters stating Colorados Drive would be repaved.
“They put signs up, did some work,” Angarano told KRON4. The street was prepped by crews for paving. “The signage on the street barriers indicated that the crew would be back on 5/15-5/16 to complete the work,” she said.
But workers abruptly left midway through the project — and never returned.
“I called and the engineer with the City of Oakland said that contractor pulled out because the crews didn’t feel safe,” Angarano said.

I had to pull off a job on a black anniversary one night it may have been MLK’s shooting anniversary, anyway the low income blacks were in a mood.
The street didn’t have lighting and every time I entered the apartment one of the guys would stand by the door and quietly say “I’m going to kill you” but the real problem is that I didn’t like leaving my tools in the apartment every time I had to go to my truck which was in the dark and a small but growing group of strangers were gathering around it and muttering as though they were trying to get up the courage for something or at least to break into my work van, finally I called the black landlord and told him I couldn’t risk all my tools like this and that he was going to have to wait until the next day when the cover of night was gone.
cold patch asphalt dropped off from say 10,000 ft would be a GREAT idea! safer too.
Our nation cannot last much longer with this type of criminal activity not only allowed but being encouraged. Criminals have no fear of punishment (with good reason), and the law-abiding fear the repercussions of protecting themselves and their property.
In 1985 I was cutting meat at a supermarket in Atlantic City,NJ. One day I was out back washing out some fat barrels when a brand new low income apartment complex across the way had a fire in a unit. When the fire department arrived they were greeted with the residents throwing bottles and rocks at them. Cops had to secure the scene while the building was burning. Yes it was all them again. Saw it with my own eyes.
That’s where we should be busing the chicom and jihadi illegals.
I know contractors in such typical Democrat urban reservations who had armed security and protected parking written into the contract. The security was there to protect them, their equipment, and their personal vehicles. If enough armed security didn’t show, the crew simply left and billed for their time.
Why yes. Yes it is.
Food deserts. Now road deserts. Embrace the suck.
I experienced this same thing in a shopping mall in downtown Denver a couple decades ago. A couple random (black) dudes following me around saying things like this. I think it was just a game, to see if the could get me to "crack" or respond somehow.
It was the only time I ever went to Denver. It was for a job interview. I actually got the job offer, but all else being equal, this tipped the scale in the "Thanks but Not Interested" direction.
White privilege strikes again.
Am I missing something? I thought they had a sniper overwatch program in hostile areas.
From outer appearances, I’ve seen a lot worse
Why do you assume they voted for this?
Africans in America. S hole people like living in s holes.
Yes. My reference points for my comment are Bronx NY, Buffalo's East Side, Detroit. Something about bright California-style sunshine and flowers, not regularly seen in the mid-west or NY, make the worst places look OK.
I WOULD DO THE SAME
DO NOT BLAME THEM

Maybe they should try the old Northern Ireland Royal Ulster Constabulary playbook from the 70’s and 80’s. If there was a domestic disturbance in a catholic area, the RUC would have to wait for deployment of the British Army to lock down the neighborhood block. They would then go in to take care of the complaint, and then the army would clear out after the RUC left. My brother-in-law (former RUC) told me one domestic disturbance call in those neighborhoods turned into a nine-hour tactical operation. I could see this happening in Oakland.
That’s how Haiti became what it is today.
I did a Google search of Colorados Drive in Oakland and it did not look all that bad to me. I did see some people in their front yard and they looked Hispanic to me. I thought for sure it would be the usual suspects.
