I was in London when congestion pricing started. The congestion area continues to grow.
The trend for years now is for businesses to look at places other than New York.

The true and short reason for the “pause”? It’s an entirely Dim proposal and it will hurt many Dims in NYC and there is an election in November. Come January 2025 the “pause” will be over. Typical of the hypocritical Dims, playing politics with their own policy.

Have you ever notice when a politician makes a prediction on how much a program will bring in is always higher then actually happens and the reverse is also true, any cost estimate for any government program will always be lower then what the final cost is?

The “congestion” price per day on trucks alone will raise the cost of living in Manhattan, a bit, as shippers (of EVERYTHING) will pass along the extra fees to the originator of the shipment, and they will pass it along to the receiving customers.
Just like high taxes the Dims never consider the economic consequences of their own favored policies, because it is always the “social” reason for the policy alone they pretend to care about.
I-66 is a toll road. The NYC congestion pricing was designed to cover an entire geographic area in NYC by imposing the fee on every motorist who entered the area on every route.
Central and now most of greater London does this it drastically improved traffic conditions. What used to take 2 to 4 hours can be done in an hour or less now. NYC and London both have very effective subways and metros for the masses to ride. It’s taken me three hours to get from LaGuardia to Soho at an average speed of 5mph and less than 8 mpg in a rented compact sedan. The only reason I had that car was the next day we were leaving Manhattan for Boston then Maine. It cost $75 per parking spot per night with no in and out to keep that car for two days while eating for the wife to get to LaGuardia.and spend the night in Manhattan. So this would be welcome to those who can afford it in Manhattan. Just like Central Londoners.
