As my colleague Bonchie covered, college basketball phenom Caitlin Clark is receiving a rough welcome to the WNBA. She’s been receiving hard—dangerous—fouls at an alarming rate.
Why? You be the judge. But it certainly seems like jealousy and resentment are the driving forces behind much of the hate she’s received.
She’s deserving of her accolades; this is not someone who’s getting attention just for her looks or for her social media profile—she’s the real deal:
Top-seeded Iowa, which reached the NCAA title game for the second consecutive season, ended the season at 34-5. Clark finished with 30 points Sunday - scoring 18 in the first quarter, the most in a period in a national championship game. She ends her career with 3,951 points. She averaged 31.6 PPG this season and 28.4 over 139 career games.Clark's season has included milestones and broken records.
In a 17-day span from Feb. 15 to March 3, Clark broke Kelsey Plum's record to become the all-time women's NCAA Division I scoring leader, passed AIAW legend Lynette Woodard for the major college scoring record, and passed LSU legend Pete Maravich for most career points in Division I history for men and women.
But is this basketball or something far uglier?
Former Los Angeles Laker Matt Barnes—no stranger to controversy himself—is calling out the discrimination in no uncertain terms. Where the heck are her teammates, Barnes wants to know (warning: graphic language):
Why isn’t her club protecting her? Barnes:
I mean, throughout the season she's been getting beat up. Hard screens, elbows knocked down. It is what it is. She's not the first. She won't be the last. My issue and my question is where the **** are her teammates at?Where y'all at—where the rest of the Indiana fever at?
The whole Caitlin Clark controversy has been an ugly thing to watch unfold. She is a generational basketball player, one of the best to ever play the game, yet her success has brought out the racists and the dividers as they try to tear her down. What should be a great moment for the WNBA has proven to divide people:
Barnes is appalled:
I’ve seen a couple of girls smirk when she’s got knocked down, half-ass to pick her up. Like, y’all supposed to protect the asset, protect the star. And although this is a team, you always protect your star. I was someone who protected the stars. You f–k with Kobe, [Chris Paul], Blake [Griffin], the list goes on, it’s going to be a problem...
Barnes sums up his rant succinctly:
Got to do better, ladies.
He’s absolutely right. The WNBA, never a popular league, may just be watching its hope of relevancy circling the drain. Clark deserves to be challenged, just like any new player, but what we're seeing is way beyond the pale.
If the option to go to Europe, or something, I’d advise her to do it.
They pay better as well.

Even if she can’t get the initial offer, it certainly should be considered. Ice Cube will not tolerate flushing his investment down the tube because some blacks are made that she can outplay them on their skills.
In that case, her cowardly team mates wouldn’t stand up for her because they’re a bunch of pricks.
Who wants to pay to see women fight?
It’s probably a female thing. Males seem inherently team oriented while females have to be taught, and don’t aways get it.
Just a few year ago a US Navy destroyer hit another ship because 2 female crew would not work together.
Without Caitlin the WBNA would be back to irrerelevantcy in three months or less. Think of what they would lose if she walked away or had a season or career ending injury. They’ve made reservations for private planes, large arenas, merchandise orders, expanded concession inventory, more employees. And with the loss of one player they wouldn’t be able to pay for any of it. All the thug girls would be looking for someone to help them fill out fast food job applications, if they can’t read and write any better than they speak they’re pretty much unemployable !
Worse than that, the WNBA is dominated by nasty lesbians.
Where?
Likely at a #BLM meeting.
“She is being punished for cultural appropriation. She plays better than her black teammates. Basketball is a BLACK preserve. White girls have no right to be better than black girls.”
Yup. Clark is a “white interloper”.
Clark’s team mates suck Hugh piles of 💩. You touched anybody when I played you were effed. Granted that was in the 70’s but we had balls. Run with the big dogs or suck a hot dog. On your porch. Oh yeah, eff your color.
when Jackie Stiles came into the wnba, after becoming the then all time ncaa scoring leader, her teamates would basically ignore her...I watched one of her games in person...Jackie was streaking down the court and the other idiot deliberately did not pass it to her.....Jackie had a short career with many injuries, but her “teamates” did not help her at all...maybe because she was white, a country girl, or perhaps not a lesbian, I really don’t know.....
Have you ever watched the UFC, women fight in that sport all the time and the matches are highly entertaining.
The fighting among the women is not hair pulling and bitch slapping, it’s fists and kicks to the head and knockouts with blood all over the place.
For example.

Nobody can be as mean to a woman like other women. I noticed that back in jr. high in 1961. It starts when their young and gets worse as they get older.
Kind of reminds me of a certain Christian NFL quarterback.
Substitute “tribe” for “team”. Some tribal roots go deeper and more extensive than others.
A couple of them now.
