Multiple legal experts have cited multiple legal reasons why Trump’s guilty verdict is likely to be overturned on appeal.

Multiple legal experts have cited multiple legal reasons why Trump’s guilty verdict is likely to be overturned on appeal.

I am listing some of their reasons here, but there are a lot more reasons at the links:

Judges are supposed to be chosen at random. But this judge was selected on purpose.

Judges aren’t supposed to make political donations. But this judge had donated to multiple anti-trump organizations.

The main crime that Trump was convicted of was a misdemeanor, and the statute of limitations had expired. However, the prosecutor updated it to a felony, and used some other crime to avoid the statute of limitations. However, the prosecutor never said what that other crime was. The judge gave the jury instructions that they did not have to vote unanimously when it came to this other crime. The judge gave the jury three separate crimes to choose from, and said they could split their vote, such as, for example, by 4-4-4.

The campaign finance law that Trump was convicted of breaking is a federal law, not a state law. The state has no jurisdiction in this matter.

Here are opinion columns from three different legal experts that explain why there are multiple legal reasons why the verdict is likely to be overturned on appeal:

Alan Dershowitz: “I was inside the court when the judge closed the Trump trial, and what I saw shocked me”

https://nypost.com/2024/05/21/opinion/i-was-inside-the-court-when-the-judge-closed-the-trump-trial-and-what-i-saw-shocked-me/

Jonathan Turley: “Bragg’s thrill kill in Manhattan could prove short-lived on appeal”

https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/4697118-braggs-thrill-kill-in-manhattan-could-prove-short-lived-on-appeal/

Elie Honig: “Prosecutors Got Trump — But They Contorted the Law”

SCOTUS has to wait until cases are brought to it.

The pre-trial rulings were appealed from the getgo, and have been wending their way through to the Appellate Division as we speak.

The NY appeals court is just as corrupt as Braag, he needs to take straight to the SC.

I find it funny that the same people who defended Merchan are attacking Alito over the upside down flag controversy. Biden saying Trump was wrong about saying the trial was “rigged” even though Biden wouldn’t defend Alito. The public sees through this.

And the Jury is made up of a bunch of dimwits. Caution, I will not set foot in New York ever again. State and city. IF the people there are that stupid you can’t be anywhere near them. And i think most of the New Jersey shore issues are from people from New York that have over the past 20 years invaded the state.

There will be no appeal, they will never have time for it.

Even if there is an appeal, who in his right mind believes that Trump can get any fair and reasonable treatment in a NY court? I certainly don't.

Trump may as well be headed for a dungeon by decree of the king or a dictator. It is the same thing.

The plan has been very sinister. First, convict as man of Trump's associates as possible to discredit him and paint him guilty by association and isolate him. Second, pillory him with legal actions and finally convict him in a mock trial for contrived charges that remain unclear.

Trump will be in jail for the national convention. They will wait until they can get maximum shock value out of it.

SCROTUS will do nothing so as not to appear controversial or anything but neutral. They will go far far out of their way to appear independent still trying to preserve the institution, an institution that is becoming ever more meaningless.

A Wall Street Journal editorial claimed that the prosecution didn’t prove their case.

The so called experts are basing their estimates on traditional values. They have not come to grips with the fact that the lawfare being waged is just a front for a totalitarian dictatorship. The courts and law are no less a fraud than they were in Nazi Germany or in any other dictatorship that wishes to retain the facade of legitimacy and equity when there is none. My only question is and has been, “Why do dictators even care to project a cover of some legitimacy?”

Pretty much correct. The court and legal system have gotten by with everything they have wanted to do while nobody made any real effort to stop them. The situation is no different than the jews disappearing one by one and then all of them.

We are like sheep, passively waiting for another to be taken betting the odds are against it being us. The enemy know this, they prey on it just like others of their kind have in past dictatorships.

Great t-shirt. Here on the San Fran Peninsula, it would be asking for a bullet to the chest, though.

Of course, then number one reason is there was zero evidence of any crime being committed. Same protocol they followed with the real estate case. No victim, no crime, Guilty!

My wife was at Apple in the very early days. Badge number 2,400 or so! She was going through her memorabilia the other day and she has a pile of it. She managed software licensing.

Like Kafka's The Trial, in which the defendant was not informed of the charges.

The verdict will not be overturned, at least not in the NY courts and there may not be a path to federal court. Trump is just too controversial and that part of the country too liberal to render justice to a figure as polarizing as Trump.

SCOTUS is walking a political tightrope with an administration that continually defies its rulings and a Dem party hell bent on packing it one way or another with liberal Democrats. If the conservative majority thinks it can appease Dems by playing dead they are wrong. It is time to close in and counter punch with shots to the head and the body.
