Donald Trump is a licensed gun owner — here’s what will happen to his firearms after his felony conviction
NY Post ^ | 6/1/24 | Matthew Sedacca

Licensed gun owner Donald Trump will have to turn over all of his firearms in the coming weeks now that he has been found guilty of felonies in the Manhattan “hush money” case.

Under New York state and federal law, convicted felons are banned from possessing any type of firearm, and the former president must have his weapons legally passed off to another person or surrendered to authorities by his July 11 sentencing, criminal defense attorney Peter Tilem said.

“There is no grace period,” Tilem told The Post. “You are federally prohibited once you are convicted.”…

I’m not interested in all the details of the kangaroo court - no one should be taking it seriously.

Can’t pardon non-federal crimes.

“Trump has armed guards protecting him. So, should the secret service agents have to surrender their weapons too?”

Non sequitur.

Bull. A felon is just not allowed to possess or control. Nothing about proximity in the law. That would be rediculous.

I can’t find the law that the President automatically gets a top security clearance. However, The President is the Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Branch issues the security clearances. Therefore, the Chief Executive is ultimately in charge of the security clearance.

I can see the agencies resisting the sharing of information with a convicted felon who otherwise would not have a security clearance.

Since Trump was convicted under New York STATE law why would guns in Florida (which is not subject to NYS law) have to be surrendered?

There are two laws prohibiting possession of firearms by felons. One is at the state level, the other is federal. That's why.

Doesn’t prevent other convicted felons from having guns though, they just dont want Trump to have any guns since it will make him easier to kill thats the whole point, its not about putting him behind bars its about killing him thats the ultimate goal

No one has the authority to deny the voters a president by saying he needs to pass their security standard, we went through this with Obama, no one gives the boss of security clearances a clearance. Fiefdoms do play games with information and Presidents but if it comes to the attention of the boss, then he can assert his authority over them.

Don Jr. lives just down the ICW from me. He has a beautiful place to store them. I’m not even sure why this is a question.
It is only temporary anyway.

I will not cooperate with Federal Law Enforcement going forward. I have been the victim in a bank robbery and was interviewed by the FBI multiple times. Not any more. Sorry, I don’t speak to law enforcement.

He never dreamed that the city that was his home, and for which he did so much, would turn on him so utterly.

A felon can own firearms in FL? I did not know that. I thought it was a federal checklist I had to sign.
