We have no Plan B if Ukraine falls, says Estonia
BBC News ^ | May 31, 2024 | Frank Gardner

Estonia considers itself a front-line state, a Nato member where its border guards stare across the Narva River at the Russian fortress of Ivangorod.

This tiny Baltic state, once a part of the Soviet Union, is convinced that once the fighting stops in Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin will turn his attention to the Baltics, looking to bring countries like Estonia back under Moscow’s control.

To help stave off that possibility, Estonia’s government has poured money and weapons into Ukraine’s war effort, donating more than 1% of its GDP to Kyiv.

"If every Nato country did this," says Estonia’s steely Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, "Ukraine would win."

But Ukraine isn’t winning.

Short of artillery, ammunition, air defences and most of all, troops, Ukraine is struggling to hold back the sheer weight of Russian firepower, glide bombs and massed infantry assaults that often border on the suicidal.

Then, Estonia and NATO are up neck deep in the creek with their mouths wide open.

Nothing other than an unconditional surrender will save Ukraine as a country.

What happens to Ukraine is little or no importance in a nation where the criminal justice has been weaponized against a former President and leading Presidential candidate.

I pray for Ukraine's destruction. It's one of the armpits of Europe, the land of neo-Nazis and pitiful distraction for our elite, who care more about it than the well-being of their own citizens.

Death to Ukraine! Death to NATO!

Sorry but Trump never told anyone to hate DeSantis. DeSantis ran a terrible campaign and ruined his chances all on his own.
You need to wise up and face reality.

They're members of his cult. I'm voting for Trump but I'm not a member of his cult.

Same here.

Estonia needs to wise up and stop pissing resources away, and build up their own defenses as an actual NATO member.

That is what they are doing.

Estonia is spending 3.2% of it’s GDP this year on defense spending. Well above most every NATO country...

I have my issues with Trump, but he’s what we have right now and the show trials against him have to fought otherwise this will be the new playbook against any Republican who dares to challenge the status quo.

I agree with you, if Trump is one and only person who can save the country, then we are already screwed, at most Trump could serve 4 years, we need a string of MAGA candidates to enact long term changes.

We can’t be fooled by non-MAGA types like Nikki Haley, who I predict will challenge Trump at the Republican Convention, she will be backed by a few huge money RINO Neocons.

It will fail but if it succeeds, she will lose the election in a landslide equal to Barry Goldwater, Walter Mondale, etc.

Oh, so it wasn't Trump who invented the nickname "DeSanctimonious"? That sounds like encouraging his followers to hate DeSantis to me. Sounds like you're the one who needs to rejoin reality.

Putin, you idiot, wouldn't have "seized" Crimea if we had fomented an illegal coup and installed a puppet government that tried to eliminate Russia's access to a naval base it had operate sin 1783.

If you don't understand the national security risks for Russia because of that and that the people of Crimea had been seeking independence from Ukraine since the fall of the Soviet Union, you're ignorant or don't care what the truth is.

Once again, we see the threat Zeepers are to national and world security. You're desperate to start a hot war with Russia or setoff WW III or nuclear war. You bat sh$t crazy.

If you want to fight the Russians, get you sorry ass over to Ukraine. But, before we see Americans dying over there, we drag you and your ilk through the streets by your testicles.

All you're doing is helping Biden by beating the war drums, delaying holding him accountable for the failed proxy war in Ukraine until after the election.

They’d be better off investing that money into their own defenses. Artillery, drones, and submarines would be a good start.

DeSantis is not a MAGA Republican. He’s an Ivy League lawyer who has never held a job outside government in his adult life.

This is why his primary bid was a pathetic disaster.

Estonia doesn’t need to worry. Russia isn’t going to invade Ukraine. Putin said so.

Oh, wait...

He was a lawyer for the Navy. Do you believe our servicemen and women are unqualified to be President? After all, that's a "government job" too.

Where on there does it say Trump told anyone to hate DeSanctimonious?

Calling him that was true because that was the BS your boy was peddling.

Ron even had an ad comparing himself to the Lord. LOL. You folks just can’t get over your butthurt. RDS had no chance whatsoever to win the vast array of votes from different walks of society that Trump can get.

If they trotted Ron in now, he would still lose.

Ron even had an ad comparing himself to the Lord.

And that's different from Trump calling himself "the Chosen One" because...?

1. JAG lawyers might be the least impressive lawyers in the country other than urban sh!t-hime prosecutors.

2. He was also a federal prosecutor before he ran for Congress. That alone means he deserves the same level of public respect that you’d give to a child molester.

3. As far as I’m concerned, any military veteran who joined the armed forces after 1992 is disqualified from any consideration to hold a political office at the national level.
