” other than go in the cellar if you have one.”
We have one!
YAYNESS!
Radar is wicked approaching Portland area
It’s lightning, thunder, raining heavily here . But on radar just a small green cell
Hi Dolly!
Yes, we are watching it, and the pitch black sky!
Terrifying!!
Took care of a Sweet little Japanese lady in an ICU, she was deaf, she married a US contractor who’s job it was to sail around Japan for the military, he met her at a pool near Mt Fuji. Interesting job.
Judy I didn’t have tofu until about 10 years being a vegetarian. I didn’t even know what it was. I just stopped eating meat & no big drive to substitute anything. At that point in time I had my first Thai and Indian meals/food
I recall going to a Thai restaurant for first time with my friend Paul . In Cleveland Hts. We went to a artsy theater (cedar Lee) . It had the movies you wouldn’t see elsewhere. Sundance variety. Shorts.

for movie and just looked around for place to eat first. Right next door was Lemon Grass
Neither of us had ever tasted Thai Food.
I had a curry dish with various vegetables and avocado. Also ordered a salad with Thai peanut dressing. It came with fried tofu. I asked the waiter what it was and his description wasn’t terribly appealing. I figured if I didn’t like it I could pick it off just like I did with onions when I was a youngster
Well I did like it. Paul liked his dish also and we made a weekly trip to theater and Lemon Grass. We both learned quickly “ no fire” to not burn our throats.
I didn’t start cooking with it for years after
I tried some dishes with the uncooked tofu and didn’t like them.
Paul and I also went to the periodic wine tastings there. Limited to 30 people. Many course meal . Family style with a variety of wines. Your plate and wine glass were never empty
The chef Paul (another one) made up a lot of speciality things for me. I did photography for him which he used in advertising and brochures
Lemon Grass is no longer operating sadly

Those later years I found another excellent Thai restaurant in Hudson OH. Pad Thai. The owner was 20 and pregnant when I went to her first small restaurant in a shopping plaza near my chiropractor. When I left Ohio she still ran the little place in Shopping plaza but also had three large impressive restaurants adopting the popular fusion style …(and she had more kids)

Menu (look through it - impressive)

My favorite there is the hot and sour soup. I’ve not yet successfully matched in my kitchen . In lieu of a meal I’d often just get two bowls of soup
Jim and I plan to go there when I get to Ohio in July
All this response to you not liking tofu! LOL
yay, how neat is that!
I’d love to see a picture.
“it is so eerily quiet”
I’ve seen that on tv.
You probably don’t want to watch Twister tonight
Yeah he looked confused, how that kid could get away with acting that way. He was adorable
nothing here
Hot n sour soup is good on a cold day, we used to get a bowl of rice and that for a cheap meal but we are Keto now so, stir fry with some kinda meat or tofu without all that sticky sugary sauce.
Re: homemade clothes
My mom made most of my clothes in grade school. But starting in JrHi it just was not cool to wearing moms homemade stuff. That many years ago we were brainwashed consumers
My parents didn’t have that much money but we got a very good financial deal at two stores on three lines: Janzten, Bobbie Brooks and Darlene as I was a weekend model at their stores in Cleveland That continued through first year in college as I attended in Cleveland at CCC my freshman year.
How I now treasure homemade things ! So stupid as a child
Well they should put you on the tofu marketing board lol! I admit I didn’t give it much of a chance, and it was years ago. I suspect fried tofu would win me over....fried anything does, except bugs.
We have a Lemon Grass about a half hour away. I used to go there now and again, or get their take-out. The duck was delicious.
Well you got to Jr.Hi! That’s better than my kids. After about 7 years of age, no way lol. It was ok with me, because my patterns were mostly for younger kids.
One time we had a wedding to attend and I got very ambitious. I made myself a very pretty floral skirt with a matching vest, a nice beige blouse and a pretty ceramic pin that matched the floral colors perfectly. I made Natalie a dress in the same material, with a large beige square collar that laid on top of the dress, beige stockings and beige shoes. I made Mike some darker beige shorts with straps (he was only 2 or 3), a white shirt, and a bow-tie in the floral material so he matched us. He had beige knee-socks with his shorts and tan shoes. Lol how corny was I???!!!!! Lol it’s amazing they’re not in therapy!

Well, there is a gay flag in front of the house so.....
Stay safe....and hope there aren’t any weird critters down in that basement. LOL! Seriously, though, I hope all is well now. Have the storms finally passed?
The outfits sound adorable!
People I know have had VA care say the care is great but the wait to get the care...well, that’s not so great.
Was never in combat, never seriously hurt and figured I’d leave my “share” of VA to the people who need/deserve it far more than I.
Finally, I guess I’ve got the same attitude about gummint as my Dad and most of the Montana rednecks I run with: Only thing we really want from gummint is to be left the hell alone.
