WaPo Debunks NYT: Alito’s Upside Down Flag Was Over ‘Neighborhood Dispute, Not Politics.’
National Pulse ^ | 5.25.24

In a rare move, the Washington Post has debunked the New York Times over its story regarding the upside-down U.S. flag being flown over Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s home in 2021. A Post reporter had visited the Alito’s at the time of the incident, enquiring about the flag, but finding nothing more than a neighborhood dispute. The Post explained Saturday:

The Post decided not to report on the episode at the time because the flag-raising appeared to be the work of Martha-Ann Alito, rather than the justice, and connected to a dispute with her neighbors, a Post spokeswoman said. It was not clear then that the argument was rooted in politics, the spokeswoman said.

The Post even takes a dig at left-wing Democrats who have been attempting to use the issue to force Justice Alito off cases as a result:

Since the Times article, dozens of Democratic lawmakers and some legal experts have called for the justice to recuse himself from the 2020 election-related cases, saying the upside-down flag outside his home raises questions about his impartiality or creates the appearance of bias. He has drawn rebukes from some Republicans as well. For now, the neighborhood remains quiet, and no other disturbances have been reported.

Today and every day: use the secure https://t.co/tAeasylJSJ line to tell us anything we need to know, about SCOTUS or *any* matter. We monitor this closely and protect our sources. Please tell others and thanks. https://t.co/ONheM3mCd6— Jodi Kantor (@jodikantor) May 23, 2024

NEW: Last summer, the Alito beach home in New Jersey flew the “Appeal to Heaven” flag, which like the upside down US flag, is linked to Jan. 6. We have photos from July, August and September as well as eyewitnesses. https://t.co/uOjZcaUvk9 pic.twitter.com/yUCqbvdT2A— Jodi Kantor (@jodikantor) May 22, 2024

This NYT idiot trolling for more flag stories I guess. She has a tip link! And she wants you to share it. Here’s a tip. You work for a corporation that promoted Stalin, censored the Holocaust, installed Castro, and regurgitates Hamas blood libels against Israel. You’ve sold your soul to a truly diabolical corporation. That’s my tip. Now, back to the George Washington flag.https://t.co/Bx38xksWOq— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) May 24, 2024

An up-side-down flag is not disrespectful. It has a meaning. It is described in flag etiquette.

I knew about the neighborhood dispute and Alito's wife hanging the flag one day after the story went national.

I do not recall who reported it, but that still unchallenged explanation has been out there since Day Two.

Justice Alito is probably biased towards the constitution God and country. I’m ok with that.

Democrats Release Damning Photo Of Justice Alito Reading The Constitution

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In yet another scandal involving the conservative Supreme Court judge, Democrats released a damning photograph of Justice Samuel Alito reading the Constitution.

After releasing the photo, Democrats argued that Justice Alito had clearly been radicalized and could not be trusted to make impartial rulings on the constitutionality of any case due to the fact that he had read the Constitution in the past.

Re: "NYT secure line"

I do not understand how Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are secure.

My understanding of computers and software is very basic.

My first impression is that EVERY website and every computer in the world can be hacked!

Let me guess. Mittens. Susan Collins. Lizard Murkowski. Linda Graham. All the gals.

These lame attacks on the Conservative SCOTUS Justices will accomplish nothing... The goal of these leftist ‘journalist’ attacks is to discredit any decisions that SCOTUS makes. Alito and Thomas will never recuse themselves ever! Nor should they.

They will rule in favor of Trump... And no amount of huffing, puffing or lame attacks will change that.

I do not understand how Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are secure.

I would not say secure. I would say "more secure", or maybe "less insecure".

A VPN is another computer. Your connection to that computer is encrypted (the communication back and forth and disguised). The VPN makes the connection to the final destination.

So, let's say you are logging in to Free Republic by a VPN. The Internet Service Provider (ISP), sees you log into the VPN. Once logged in, it sees activity between you and the VPN, but it doesn't know what the VPN is connected to, which in this case is FR. The info between the VPN and the user is scrambled, but the destination is also disguised by the go-beween (the VPN).

VPNs are also good at making you look like you are somewhere else, which is sometimes good for accessing things not available in your "real" location (e.g. baseball games, certain YouTube videos, etc.) The folks on the other end can likely figure out that you are using a VPN, and may choose to block you, but they won't know who you are.

There’s a blackout policy by MLB. So it’s very difficult for you to watch games even if you subscribe to MLB network. The only way you can watch your favorite team is to use a VPN.

Yup. That’s why I used ‘baseball games” as an example. MLB has worked very hard to exchange a long-term fan base for short term revenue. I have given up on MLB, which is a little sad as there is a lot of good Cactus League baseball around here.

It's harder to watch baseball in general. It used to be that you can watch either the Cubs or the Braves on WGN or TBS.

Also, I didn't like it when they got rid of the DH rule.
