The crew working on a 475-foot-long bridge in Alaska’s Denali National Park was recently told by Denali National Park Superintendent Brooke Merrell that they could no longer fly the American flag from their trucks or heavy equipment, which are being used in the $207 million Federal Highway Administration project.
Why, does China own that, too?
What about the gay or palestinian flag?
I’m so tired of these commie globalist miscreants. Where is General Augusto Pinochet when you need him?!
How about Palestinian flags.
The feds never should have changed the name from Mount McKinley.
1st amendment case?
Maybe the waving flags might attract animals?
"Merrell moved to Alaska in 2009 as a transportation planner and environmental coordinator. A Pennsylvania native, she received a master’s degree in urban planning. Prior to moving to Alaska, she worked for the City of Portland and the Gulf Islands National Seashore, along with left-leaning environmentalist and social justice groups such as DNA People’s Legal Services and Columbia Riverkeeper."
Drop-kick the leftist beech across the Bering Sea to Russia.
Maybe we should just give it back to the Russkies.
This is a federal project in a park owned by the United States government. No need for American flags around there. /s
It is interesting to note that the superintendent is not a biologist, not a botanist, not a geologist or anything that might possibly relate to a running a park and preserve. She is an uban planner.
The guy who was superintendent of the park and preserve out near Eagle on the Yukon River who presided over the park thugs knocking a 70+ year old man down and rolling him in the mud had the sole qualification of graduation from a federal law enforcement academy. Again, nothing that you would think might be associated with forests, rivers, and wildlife.
Federal government so this is an easy first amendment win then.
Government ruins everything.
So what is a Brooke Merrell? An urban planner lawyer community organizer I Hate America Type who likes playing Anna Pigeon, and I’d guess a real pain in the ass.
News Release Date: July 21, 2022
Anchorage, AK—Brooke Merrell has been selected to serve as the Superintendent of Denali National Park and Preserve. Merrell is currently the deputy superintendent at the park and has been acting superintendent for the past 9 months. Merrell’s appointment is significant as she is the first woman to hold the top job at Denali in its 105-year history.
“I am absolutely thrilled with Brooke’s selection to lead Denali National Park and Preserve,” said Alaska Regional Director Sarah Creachbaum. “Brooke has already proven she is an exceptional leader and I expect her transition as the permanent superintendent at Denali will be seamless,” Creachbaum said.
Brooke first came to Alaska in 2009 as a National Park Foundation Transportation Scholar working on a statewide NPS long range transportation plan. She had never considered Alaska as a place to live, but soon joined the Alaska Region permanently as a transportation planner, the Regional Environmental Coordinator, then led the Environmental Planning and Compliance team. In January of 2021, Merrell moved to Denali as deputy superintendent, where she immediately took on some of the park’s most challenging issues, most notably developing a solution to the Pretty Rocks Landslide.
“I am honored to be selected for the job at Denali National Park and Preserve and am dedicated to supporting this incredible park and community,” said Merrell. “There is so much passion for park resources from both park staff and members of the community, and I look forward to leveraging this for everyone’s benefit,” Merrell said. “I am also excited for the opportunity to continue working with all of our partners, our valued inholders, and the business community in order to find common ground and solutions for the challenges ahead.”
Brooke grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and received a Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Utah and a law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School. Prior to moving to Alaska, she worked for DNA People’s Legal Services on the Navajo Nation, the City of Portland, Columbia Riverkeeper, and Gulf Islands National Seashore. Merrell lives in the Stampede area of Denali with her husband Nathan while their two children attend college in state.
Bingo.
HOMO says what?
“A Pennsylvania native, she received a master’s degree in urban planning. Prior to moving to Alaska...”
Masters in Urban Planning. Works in absolute wilderness.
