MOSCOW/LONDON, May 24 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to halt the war in Ukraine with a negotiated ceasefire that recognises the current battlefield lines, four Russian sources told Reuters, saying he is prepared to fight on if Kyiv and the West do not respond.

Three of the sources, familiar with discussions in Putin's entourage, said the veteran Russian leader had expressed frustration to a small group of advisers about what he views as Western-backed attempts to stymie negotiations and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's decision to rule out talks.

Putin is ready to halt the war in Ukraine with a negotiated ceasefire that recognises the current battlefield lines, four Russian sources told Reuters

Now that the Russian advance is accelerating in eastern Ukraine, it sounds like Reuters got the message that the West would like to save what's left of Ukraine.

Why would the Russians agree to this? Just so Ukraine can re-arm and have a third war at a later date?

Anonymously sourced nonsense.

Putin has no reason to stop until he has liberated the rest of the Donbass and other Russian speaking regions along with whatever he considers necessary for future defense needs.

Ukraine had its chance for a negotiated peace with limited losses early on but it threw it away and now Putin will dictate terms that are all in Russia’s favor.

Then it’s no deal.

Russia will not let the UkroNAZIs continue to persecute the Russian speaking population or threaten Russia’s strategic security.

You Zelensky bots really don’t understand how bad your position is.

If Russia does not take ALL of Ukraine, it will be a failure.

One million dead Slavs (Ukrainian and Russian) which is what the Globohomo’s wanted. The Deep State in Europe and Washington DC won’t be happy until all Slavic people are exterminated.

Ukraine should take this generous offer from Putin. It is imposable for them to win. Otherwise WW3 is on the horizon.

He knows globohomo won’t go for it. He can say “I wanted a peace deal but globohomo killed it.” It put globohomo on defense.

This is not news. Putin has made it crystal clear he has always been ready to negotiate. This was his position prior to being forced to invade, this was his position when Ukraine and Russia negotiated a peace deal two years ago. The unfortunate reality for Ukraine is there are still hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian cannon fodder soldiers left for the West to feed into its meat grinder. There will be no deal with the West until Ukraine is bled dry.

four Russian sources told Reuters

Reuters made a mistake of quoting an excessive number of fake Russian sources.

So the question is: why is this article being published? Probably because Blinken was alarmed by the battlefield situation when he visited Kiev last week.

I think you're just the man to get to the front line and shake your fist at The Putin.

You'll most likely get what you wish for: no deal and January 1991 borders.

So much for the claim that Russia’s tanks would roll through Poland or the Baltics next.

The Ukes are critically short of manpower. The situation is not going to get any better in fact, its only going to get worse. Of course if we had remotely competent leaders in charge in the West, they would have seen that 2 years ago and would not have killed the peace deal on offer. Now at least half a million Ukrainian men are dead and Russia has conquered more territory.

Fighting to the last Ukrainian will only result in Russia seizing even more territory.

See, the thing about negotiating with Russians is that they NEVER live up to the spirit of an agreement. As one EU diplomat put it: “You get them to agree not to park their car on your lawn anymore, and the next morning they’ve parked a TRUCK on your lawn.” The voice of experience.

Yes, this whole war was avoidable if the West had been willing to negotiate.

Make no mistake, it was the West that refused to talk, not Putin.

No pro-Zelensky, pro-Ukraine person can deny this.

We are not the good guys who try to avoid war.

Why? I do not think anyone knows.

This is symptomatic of internal politics in Moscow, certainly not the current military situation. Military is now headed by an accountant with no team to back him up, and Shoigu is retired to a sinecure desk job. Key men have been arrested for theft and corruption (like arresting a bear for crapping in the woods; not the real reason). Something is afoot in the Kremlin.

Churchill said that Soviet politics is like two bull dogs fighting underneath a carpet. You can’t tell exactly what’s going on, but you hear growling and yelps of pain, and the carpet shifts around.

In the alternative, after two years of quagmire, Putin wants a face-saving exit ramp. But that can’t be. Right now, he’s winning, which would be much more face-saving. On the other hand, all these new toys are arriving in Kiev and on the way to the front line. But even so, I’m going with political shakeup. The carpet’s moving. I hear growling and yelps of pain.

It would be great to stop this war in its tracks even if it means letting the Ruskies keep what’s captured.

But like most war news, this is likely propaganda, especially considering all the sources are anonymous. Would anyone close to Putin dare leak supposedly sensitive info like this? I seriously doubt it.

Russia is not the West where leaks are abundant with no consequences. Anyone defying Putin will find themselves flying off a 20 story building or in an airplane nose diving towards the ground.

This story is BS.

“1991 borders or no deal.”

As long as the Neocons keep that up, they’ll get 1981 borders.
