Is the economy booming or busting?
Depends on whom you ask.
The official data is buoyant — economic growth is solid, the job market is strong, and stocks keep hitting record highs.
Yet many Americans think the economy stinks.
The latest gloomy indicator is a Guardian-Harris survey in which 55% of respondents said they think the economy is shrinking and 56% think we’re in the midst of a recession.
Economic output, adjusted for inflation, grew by a solid 3% during the most recent 12-month period. The unemployment rate is 3.9%. And the US economy created over 3.5 million jobs in 2023.
You basically can’t have a recession when the economy is growing and employers keep hiring at this rate. But this Harris poll isn’t a one-off.

Bull Shit.
Almost of all of that “booming” GDP is an artifact of deficit spending. And all of that liquidity is inflating the stock market, little of which is reaching most Americans.
Everyone knows the prices are way the hell up and coming down anytime soon. Home ownership off the table for most.
“Yet many Americans think the economy stinks”
Perhaps they went shopping for groceries.
Three years ago we were pretty comfy. Now? Nope!
“Statistical anomalies”
The author says it’s raining ... but it feels warm and looks yellow.
deficit spending AND huge growth in government make-work jobs.
GDP should not include government jobs.
Thank heavens we refi’d a while back at 3.65%.
Good Lord! I saw Twitchy headline that MSM was busy gaslighting Bidenomics, but seriously?
Yes, it is totally normal to go to a local grocery store and see a man staring at the canned fruit and then asking us to verify the prices he sees on the shelves.
Most of the name brand regular size cans of fruit going for over $5 each.
One regular size can of pear chunks was over $10.
If you are someone like a doctor, elected official, overpaid college professor, a slacker or other deadbeat who just got a $200,00 bailout
on your unpaid college loans life probably seems pretty good at the moment.
But not so good if you are a hard working taxpayer who couldn’t afford college or paid off your own loans and are now stuck paying off
the billions Biden just gave to college educated deadbeats.
Who are mostly female having a worthless degree...
Not name brand, but Kroger brand canned pears are $1.69. Delmonte is $2.69. Both are under 16oz.
Is the Midwest that much cheaper?
No economic stat released by the Biden admin is credible. They’re cooking the books.
Companies are working illegal children who have taken jobs from citizens. 10 year old working late night a McDonalds and not being paid. Just a small example of what’s going on.
Replacement theory is not a theory anymore.
Keep gaslighting media. We never believed you.
Yes.
Bidenomics makes life really miserable for the poor and needy.
The inflation hit mostly the stuff people need the most, like food and gas.
It seems to me that the stuff rich people buy is not that affected.
Another reason that rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer under Biden!
