We love In n Out. Years ago a good sit down restaurant burger was Red Robin.

hi!
sorry I forgot to include RedRobin. We visited one and the burger was quite decent. and they did have a waitress to help us figure out how to talk our order into their robot, ha

In and Out has a two block line every time we drive by it. Fortunately there are a couple of the other joints within 2 blocks, ha.

I am not quite sure why the one has 90 percent of the lineup, they all 3 seems decently good imho. I guess the public just likes In and Out more is all. Personally I am not gonna wait an hour lined up out on the boulevard to get a supposedly “quick take out food” burger. Contradiction in terms, ha!

McD has priced itself almost completely outside of its core patronage constituency....families

Agreed. I used to basically complain that it was cheaper to feed the family McD than to grocery shop something more healthy.

"I would imagine most franchisees are now owned by Muslims, people from India, the cartels etc.."

I looked into it 15 years ago. In order to start a McD's franchise you had to have a net worth of $1m. Then you have to go to burger school.

I figured it was rigged for existing franchise owners to expand.

The problem isn’t that food costs have gone up, it’s that money is now worthless.

I remember $0.19 burgers at McDonald’s
39 cent Whoppers at Burger King.
Real Kentucky Fried Chicken, not that crap they have at KFC.

“ Just saw my first bottle of Coke Spiced.”

Local grocery had a sale - 4 12-packs of Coke for $12 - but one had to be a Coke Spiced. I bit, and I was pretty disappointed. It’s just cherry Coke with some minor spice, so subtle that I couldn’t really tell what it was, maybe cinnamon and cardamom, but don’t know. It was bad enough so that I wouldn’t buy any more.

I’ll keep going to the mom & pop Greek and Italian eateries.

Same. When in the US, we absolutely never eat at restaurants anymore. I will *never* go into another ‘full-service’ place - one where I have to tip, for instance - in the US ever again in my lifetime. We’ll do Chinese takeout once a month or so but in my case I am either in Asia or Europe for 8 months out of the year anyway and in the US typically for less than 4 months total.
We do go to restaurants in Europe and Asia. Far, far better experience and better food. The foods that our restaurants use in Asia in particular are delivered directly from where they are grown/raised. In the USA, they are unloaded from a ‘food service’ factory after all sorts of ‘processing’ and come in big cans.
There’s a major difference.

Look at the charts for prices between 2019 & 2024.
The french fries have the highest prices. You can buy a large bag at the store to make yourself. You will pay at least $10 for a hamburger and french fries or a drink.

McDonald’s Cheeseburger is $3.15 and the McChicken is $3.89 now.
In-N-Out Burger Hamburger is $3.50 and the Cheeseburger is $3.95 now.
Jack in the Box Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger is $4.99 now.

How much have fast-food prices gone up since 2020? Price hikes at 6 popular chains

Which fast-food chain raised prices the most?
Across all of the menu items listed for each of the six restaurants checked, McDonald’s raised prices more on average (141.4%) than any of the other five restaurants included in this list.

Which fast-food chain raised prices the least?
Across all of the menu items listed for each of the six restaurants checked, Jack in the Box raised prices less on average (45%) than any of the other five restaurants included in this list.

(Coke Spiced)

It’s not very good.

It would go well with Thanksgiving and Christmas food. Offsetting flavors.

(Wendy’s Biggie Bag is $5.)

Yes obviously to compete with Wendy’s.

I will buy the McDonald’s meal for sure.

But I see why they complain.

I no longer go to Taco Bell because the $5 box is on an app, ONLY.

Which ticks me off. I don’t want everyone’s app on my phone 📱.

It’s overwhelming my phone what few I have (a cheap phone 📱)

We still have Red Robin in California. I went to one the other day. I like it. It’s a bit more expensive than fast food, but you do get unlimited fries and a slightly higher quality burger.

I know they expect you to buy the drink, but are under no obligation to and rarely will I.

Don’t eat mcd’s often at all, but when I do I grab the $3 meal deal through drive through…. Because if I’m eating at mcd’s it’s because I am forced to grab something quick on my way to somewhere..I always have a drink with me in my car or some sort so I rarely buy a soda.

I remember getting hamburger, fries, a shake and change back from a dollar...at McDonalds.

We used to call it McDucks. I lived near Disneyland.
