Russia on Tuesday announced the start of tactical nuclear weapons drills close to Ukraine, in what it said was a response to Western "threats".

Throughout its two-year offensive on Ukraine, Moscow has repeatedly talked-up its arsenal of nuclear weapons and its readiness to deploy them if it senses an existential threat.

The West has accused President Vladimir Putin of irresponsible nuclear sabre-rattling.

Russia's defence ministry said Tuesday the drills were taking place in its Southern Military District, which borders and includes parts of Ukraine that Moscow claims to have annexed. It did not specify exactly where.

“I don’t support those who are putting Russia into this position.”

Russia put Russia into this position by being a douchebag empire.

Russia held hands with Hitler and started World War Two.

Then Russia used the war to seize control of Eastern Europe for fifty years. They murdered people in countries who stood against Russian domination. Poland. East Germany. Czechoslovakia. Hungary.

Then after the Evil Empire™ crumbled those same Eastern European countries came running to NATO to better secure their future against a revanchist Russian/Soviet Empire...which is precisely what Putin wants today.

Russia even threatened Sweden and Finland with nuclear weapons and in doing so flipped those countries from neutrality to NATO membership.

RUSSIA put Russia into this position.

The west is already doing everything they can to make Russia a pariah state. What would they have to lose? They would still have the same Allie’s they do now.

“Why do you think Trump was impeached over a phone call to Zelensky?

Why did Biden threaten to take away money for Ukraine unless the prosecutor was fired?”

Why did Putin have his driver killed?

Why did Putin purge the oligarchs?

What’s any of this have to do with the topic at hand?

(Hint: Nothing)

Russia has made itself a pariah state.

Worse, they’re now the town bully that no one fears anymore.

And what happens to bullies when people get sick of their crap?

Town bully? Lol. How many countries has America invaded in the last 50 years? None of which were on their border.

Oh, I utterly oppose US policy and actions towards Serbia, Libya, Syria, and Iraq.

That doesn’t alter Russia’s relationship with the countries they used to enslave and pillage.

“But it does rob us of any justification for arming and funding Uke.”

Not at all.

Just because Russia invaded Poland in 1939 and helped to start World War Two didn’t stop us from arming and funding Russia after their Nazi friends turned on them, did it?

“Have a nice day.”

You do the same! I also hope you have a lovely Memorial Day weekend planned and will have some quality time with your family while remembering those who sacrificed to make your family time possible.

May They Rest In Peace.

“Oh, so it’s good when we did but bad when anyone else does, huh?”

I did not say that.

Our actions with regards to Ukraine are not inseparably linked to what the US may or may not have done in years past. Or even concurrently.

I’ve also been known to cook multiple dishes at the same time. And just because I once cooked sauerkraut is no reason why I can’t cook matzoh ball soup.

I also like bourbon but why should that preclude me from enjoying tequila?

See, you’re engaging in a form of logic that quite simply isn’t logical. I believe the logical fallacy you’re engaging in here is called a ‘Tu Quoque’ argument.

You’re attempting to discredit or disallow an action by calling out an unrelated hypocrisy.

Here’s a useful video you might enjoy as much as I do:

This is not an “unrelated” hypocrisy. It’s waging war on Russia for doing exactly what we have done.

A Tu Quoque logical fallacy.

I once hit my dog. Does that mean I can’t shoot a bank robber?

That is why I couldn’t care less what happens to the corrupt Ukes. They chose the wrong horse and are paying the price. This would not have happened if Trump won re-election.

The West initially backed off two weeks ago when Putin reacted by announcing these drills. The West has gone right back to talking up advisors and trainers already.

Trump said this about Putin’s constant nuclear war threats.

“Look, Stuart, when he goes in and he kills thousands of people are we going to just sit by and watch?
This country will be in 100 years from now they will be talking about what a travesty, a horrible thing this is. We can’t let that, just on a human basis we can’t let that happen, and then he says that there are nuclear power but we’re a greater nuclear power.”

“But if we didn’t have it we couldn’t talk but I listened to him constantly using the n word , that’s the n word, and he’s constantly using it. The nuclear word, and we never talk, we say oh, he’s a nuclear power, but we’re a greater nuclear power.

We have the greatest submarines in the world, most powerful machines ever built, most powerful and they got built under me. Most powerful machines ever built and nobody knows where they are and

You should say look , if you mention that word, one more time, we’re going to send them over and we’ll be coasting back and forth up and down your coast. You can’t let this tragedy continue. You can’t let these thousands of people die. It’s going to be hundreds of thousands and maybe millions of people by the time it ends.””

Russia isn’t likely to use them, but it’s not a bluff. They will use them if they feel the need. And they’d get away with using them. Even the severely deranged neocons are not going to escalate to global nuclear war over a dump like Ukraine.
