‘Clear the courtroom!’ judge says over Trump witness’ sass

State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan cleared the courtroom Monday over a dramatic spat with the defense’s first main witness, Robert Costello, causing a period of mayhem at former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial.

Mr. Costello, a lawyer who once spoke to Trump lawyer-turned-accuser Michael Cohen, seemed to take exception to one of Judge Merchan’s objection rulings, uttering “Jeez,” and then sighing, “Strike it.”

“You don’t say ‘jeez.’ And you don’t say “strike it,’ because I’m the only one who strikes it,” Judge Merchan told Mr. Costello, an experienced attorney and prosecutor.

He also told him not to give him the “side eye” and, his voice rising, asked: “Are you staring me down right now?”

“Clear the courtroom!” Judge Merchan said.

So no matter what the judge does or says, he’s immune to any criminal charges?

It’s an Upper Midwest thing, and maybe Canada. ‘Owly’ to mean grouchy supposedly comes from how a lot of owls have faces that look like scowls. It was used by my extended family, usually to describe tired children.

"This sounds like a teacher lecturing a ‘boisterous’ first grader. 'Don’t you roll your eyes at me, young man!!'"

I remember a slightly different version of that one.

"Don't look at me in that tone of voice, young man!"

Was that the same teacher that said “liberry?”

At this point, it’s obvious to anyone paying attention that this is a show trial as corrupt as any Stalin subjected his enemies to.

Not sure about that, but if they said "liberry", they probably said "Febuary" too.

This ass doesn't have the temperament to be a judge. He's acting like a little kid playing hall monitor. Remember, they appointed him to this case, now we see why.

I was in awe of a judge denying an expert witness the ability to take the stand in defense of the accused. The judge’s reason, the expert witness might confuse the jury. I thought the defense was there to throw doubt on the prosecutions case. At least that’s how Perry Mason worked. This Judge needs to be the subject of a criminal probe when Trump is reelected. Give him 30 to life. How about trying Democrat power abusers in a southern courtroom. Seems fair to me. Hope they like grits.

Prisoners in Alabama get green baloney and stale white bread—no mustard or mayonnaise. Nothin nice like grits.

The judge should be wearing a leather coat emblazoned on the back with, “Bad to the Boner.”

No one knows because you always get skewed news. Dershowitz is right about this needing to be televised. They want to put Trump in jail in darkness. Total sham.

Exactly how I interpret this. If you give him the respect of a former prosecutor or whatever he was and then he says, the star witness is full of it it is much different now. Now he just looks like a “Trump guy” to them. The judge, the witness or both did this on purpose.

The idea that Trump wouldn’t have found a way to turn a pardon into lemonade is wishful thinking. Forget about Dr. Pepper, Dr. Lemonade may, with God’s willingness, be the 47th President.
